My brother bought this knife on a whim but he knows nothing about it.I did a google search but could not find a match.Does any member have any information on this dagger.

This is what I know. The knife is 11" long with a 6 1/2" mirror polished blade with one edged sharpened and a nickel silver double hilt.It has a buffalo horn handle, black leather sheath and is numbered 079/100 with "Buck Custom" engraved just above the hilt.

A few years back Buck made a series of knives for Moteng out of California which is a knife wholesale distributor. There was 3 sets of knives which included the 401 Kalinga, 976 Dagger, and the 916. There were 3 handle variations, Stag, Buffalo, Giraffe bone. There was 100 made of each set. So you would buy them by the set of 3 all with the same handle material and same serial number. All had mirror polished blades. They came all 3 in their own Buck black limited edition box in one sealed outer cardboard box with all 3 in it. Resalers would buy the sets and brake them up and sell them individually or sell them as a complete set. At one time I had a complete set of each but have since sold them. Now I wish I still had them although I have a few individuals that I have ended up picking up after the fact.

Yours is the Buffalo handled 976 dagger. 1 of 100.

They also did an Ironwood set. For the BCCI folks take a look at the 2006 March news letter for Joe Houser's LE/SO data sheet.

Oops. You are correct JB. Thanks for the additional info. I was working off limited memory.

What was the original MSRP on the sets? When I see beautiful Bucks like this series I always wonder if I would have bought it when it comes out. .

Not sure exactly what the msrp was but if I remember right wholesale which is usually 50% of retail varied depending on handle material. I believe they started out at around $450 on the low side to around $600 for the more expensive version set. So approx double that for msrp.
