What is this expensive thing?

Fantasy sword... Not my cup of tea, but there are collectors who like these type of swords and knives. Looks like they are well made with quality materials; their function as weapons may be questionable. ;)

It's an art piece that is functional.
HI is functional stuff that is artistic.

There are just two different crowds and motives and all that going on.
I know Daniel Watson personally and he's a nice guy and his stuff is good.
(I used to frequent his shop at scarborough faire when I played the village barber-surgeon.)
I can't afford it, but if I could, I'd buy one of his antique german swords and some other fun stuff too.

Did you carry a bag of leeches? I haven't had a good blood letting in years. :)

<Winner to pay actual shipping and insurance.>

add insult to injury

Guess I don't get the "fantasy sword" thing, and I'm glad :barf:

HI's stuff is sometimes, often, in fact, both artistic and functional. I saw the images of the work from Angelswords, and it was very fine. Is is so fine as to deserve a price tag of 3000 dollars? Not to me. It is not 30 times better than HI, but instead well over that statisical anomally where one pays through the nose for tiny increments of improvement. This happens in everything; autos, stereos, firearms. I once saw a pair of speakers for 100,000 dollars. I'm sure they are better than my 1600 dollar set, but probably 1 or 3 or 5 percent. Maybe they were even 10% better; just not 98 thousand more dollars worth.

You can't look at the recent night shift offerings and say Angelsword is 30 times better. Well, I can't. I would have liked to have seen a pict of the khuk they made.

Well, the anglesword crowd tends to be the invest and collect and trade and all that kind of crowd.
I dont think I ever knew anybody who used theirs.
Hey, I consider my HI stuff to be too pretty for use!

Anybody ever do an estimate on what HI Khuks would cost if made in the US at US hourly wages?

Tom

ps I still can't believe what those Kothimodas cost, with all that beautiful silver chasing on the scabbards. At $450 or so, I think myself stupid for not buying one right now!(except that i can't spare the money :( )

How many silversmiths could execute that work in the US? I bet if that scabbard were to be made here, it would cost a lot more than $450, let alone the knife itself. If I could even do that kind of silver work, there is no way I would do it for $450. I can get $100 for making a simple hand forged spoon!

T :D

Sure be nice to see the actual blade
Full profile

Seems like a poor match of the grip to a recurve blade.
