What is this Gerber?

I wouldn't call it "old." It has the new logo. If I didn't have to get up super early in the morning, I would look through Gerber's website and find it for you, but maybe start there?

I also just have to put in this plug...Gerber may not get a lot of love anymore, but I have plenty of Gerber knives, both older and newer, that have never let me down. Of course I always reach for my Benchmades first, but I have never had a Gerber fail...even the China made "mystery steel" models.

I gave my dad a Gerber Kiowa a few years ago because I just didn't want it, and it served him well every day at work for over a year till he lost it.
It had zero blade play , locked up very well, and he had no problems keeping it touched up.

I wouldn't go for a CHINA Gerber but I can't fault anyone who does ( maybe a BG i would )

Gerber makes a mix of serviceable and awful knives these days. Yes, you can get a decent Gerber nowadays, but the company is a shadow of its former self. That's why Gerber gets so much grief from knuts; it used to be a top-notch company but has become a "meh" company. I remember as a teen in the '80s, Gerber was a name that topped many a knife lover's wish list (myself included). To the knife at hand, I don't know what it is. It does look sort of Index-ish but not exactly. It doesn't show up on their current site, but, as noted above, the new logo means it can't be very old.
