Grandfathers knife .

Not sure if this is bone or faux bone.
Can anyone tell me?

I could be very wrong??..but i think they call that French ivory=celluloid.....too straight a grain to be bone (or anything natural)methinx..........................FES

That's definitely synthetic, maybe celluloid or acrylic.

Looks very similar to the scale material on this A.W. Wadsworth & Son sleeveboard pen, which as mentioned above, was described as french ivory celluloid.

As well as Doug and David said; I don´t think that this is bone. I really think, that´s something synthetic.

Doug thanks mate -it is exactly like that -so French ivory celluloid it is.
No markings other than stainless sheffield england.
The funny thing about this knife and one other I inherited from my mums father -they are the beginnings of my collection.
I 've had them for a lot of years always tucked away in my possessions but never really in my possession if ya know what I mean.
I found them in a toolbox ,cleaned them up ,sharpened them and went to find out about how to sharpen them properly which led me to here.
so there ya go.

That knife hasn't been used that much, unless I'm looking at the wrong knife. I think it is in very good condition overall. Should make a very fine pocket companion.

oh yeah -still plenty of life left in both of them. The old rodgers is heaps sharper though.
