What is this kinda knife called?

I'm sure it has some Japanese name but things seem to point to it being called a type of tanto (which would be hard to search for), a kwaiken (which also would be hard to search for). Do we have an americanized term for these? Any reputable makers making small knives with wooden sheaths matching the handle?

Just agreeing. If you were ordering one the most common way to describe it would be (Japanese name) mounted in shirasaya (storage scabbard). Tanto in shirasaya is how I'd describe that one.

Scott Slobodian is a US smith that worked / works a lot in that style.
