Hello all,

I am new here to blade forums and was wodnering if I could get some help from folks with greater knowledge than I in the blade community. My uncle gave this to me a long time ago and I was never sure what it was and who signed it. I can tell that it is some sort of collaberation between Buck and Strider and I'm guessing someone from the Buck family signed it but am not sure. In my youth I foolishy used this knife but have not in the past few years, as I am curious if it is worth anything. Any thoughts? I am not looking to sell it, repeat it is ***not for sale***. I am simply looking for information.

Two thoughts:
1) as a registered member, you cannot ask questions of valuation.
2) Need pictures.
As a registered user, you can post pictures using a picture hosting site. I use Imgur, but there are others. Once you have uploaded a picture to the hosting site, copy the web address of the picture. Note: picture web addresses must end in .jpg or .gif

Then go to your post and click the image tool on the toolbar next to the smiley tool. Click the link icon in the popup. (Looks like a chain.) Paste the picture address into the window. Then click the INSERT button.

Hello, sorry I was not lookingto sell it, I am going to keep it jsut wanted some info on what this collaberation was. Is that still allowable as a non paid member? Thank you for the info on posting photos, I tried to put them in but to no avail.

Identification of the knife is fine.
Buck had a Buck Strider model some yeaars ago (dozen or so). It was dropped from their lineup when Mick Strider's actual past was revealed.

Buck/Strider model 888.

BOS is the guy/company that did the heat treat (top quality).

ATS-34 is the blade steel.

The manufacturers date code symbol (Buck) under "SB.3" looks like 2001.

***Again not looking to sell this thing*** but I upgraded my membership, is this thing rare or a dime a dozen? And any idea on the signature? Just want to know if its reccommended that I use it camping/hunting/etc or keep it as some sort of heirloom.

The signature looks to me like CJ Buck (CEO of Buck Knives).

Since you're now a Gold member we can discuss value. One just like yours, but without the signature, sold last year at Arizona Customs for $545. I don't know what affect the signature would have on the value.

As far as using it, it has a good blade steel, a very good heat treat, and a good "user" design, so it should be a very effective cutting tool for a variety of purposes. If you were inclined to use it. It will certainly be worth more, dollar wise, if you don't use it, or sharpen it, and keep it in as original condition as possible
