Is the sheath integral? I can't seem to find this exact pack on the ESEE website.

That was the original "RAT Pack" produced by Lost Mountain Iron works. The kydex insert worked with the 5 or 6 and was held in the pouch with a Chicago screw.

LMIW is still selling the sheath, but is no longer working with ESEE on it. It was an excellent kit they sold with the 5 or 6 and I now realize what a bargain the full kit was.

I was lucky enough to win one in a shelter contest about this time last year. It came in black or khaki with a 5 or 6, a fire kit, two Aloksaks, and a Smith's sharpener that stored in the sheath.

im with adaman04 on this. i to won one in the contest, and its a great set up! i use mine all the time. I modified the contents a bit and switched the loose kydex for a custom fit one but its amazing none the less. If you find one on the secondary market pick it up right away! you wont regret it.

That's my RAT pack :) The sheath is kydex, and it's screwed into the setup. Most people replaced the screws with a pin, as the screw has a tendency to pull loose. You can still get them from LMIW, but I'm interested to see what the new RAT packs are like in person.

It's a great kit to have as a backup in the trunk.

Dizwolf,

I'm jealous of your Rat Pack #! I'm in Denver, and 303 is our area code.

I just looked at LMIW and all I can say is ouch! The price is a little steep considering that I can get the Izula II kit I want for less. I think I'll hold off for now...

Wow! I like that. I am in the process of putting together my own little pack similar to this for my Esee-4. I am using a T.O.P.S. modular electronics pouch for the base. I am not sure how well it's going to work out yet... But will know soon enough!

Edit: note that I am putting this together as more than just a grab and go bag but actually as something to wear on my belt keeping my camera, knife, small survival kit and some herpetology tools in while I play in the rainforest. So after reviewing the above pack, my purpose is completely different than just grab and go. Oh well. :)

I was able to fit 2 speedhooks, altoid tin, 2-man HEAT SHEET, tinder pill bottle, 2 Thompson snares, compass, diamond rod, and my GG firesteel on my MAXPED Janus pouch.. It's configurable in many mounting positions and styles.
