I was wondering if any of you know what type of steel this might be: XINICrMoCu25-20-5
As far as I found out it is a Europe Stainless Steel of very good corrosion resistance.
Someone was telling me a while back that there is a chart that shows what europeen steels are in US classifications.

Thanx a bunch,
Thomas

i don't know the amount but from the name i can tell there is nickle, chromium, molybdenum, copper, and i don't know what the XI stand for. hope this helped

The Satinless Steel has the German Material Number 1.4539 and the DIN Number: X1NiCrMoCu25-20-5.

The Guide to Steels lists it as being very resistant to highly corrosive substances like acids.

The Steel is composed of - among other things:

0.02 % Carbon and has 19-21 % Chrome

This steel cannot be harened and would not be useful for making knifeblades.

Thank you for all the replies.
I will be actually using this steel for a vessel in my salt bath furnace.
