I just noticed this symbol that looks laser etched on my knife.

I just got this Spyderco Scorpius today.

What is this symbol?

Thanks in advance!

ajnova is correct, that is Eric Glesser's "logo". my own Scorpius does not include this logo, so i wonder when they stopped/started stamping it.

It was designed by Eric Glesser, son of the CEO of Spyderco, Sal Glesser.

Well the Scorpius has been changed a bit since it was first created. You can still find some of the older pictures on the web where the lnyard hole is not at the butt end.

I would be willing to bet that the logo went on about the same time they moved the lanyard hole to the end...

The previous position of the lanyard hole was kind of funny; it made the handle look like a dolphin. :) I wish Spyderco didn't use a lanyard hole with this knife. One cool thing about steel handles is that that the holes for the pins aren't easily visible. Adding a lanyard hole compromises that look, IMO.

I have no idea when the E.G. logo was in effect. I think it's a pretty attractive addition to the knife though!

A fine opinion it is, but mine is the opposite! :D

I like the lanyard hole. I don't normally use the clip with my pocket knives. I was thinking of doing a coil knot lanyard on this knife. I suppose I will know more when I get it, but I think the hole is fine.

The only thing about letting the knife ride in the pocket without the clip is that it could get scratched faster if I have some other stuff in there. I suppose I will reserve the right to change my opinion after I play with the knife a bit.

i was under the impression that the lanyard hole was always in the dolphin position. other than the prototype pictured in Spyderco's catalog and website, has anyone seen a Scorpius with the hole at the end?

AYB - we seem to be engaged in the same conversation across two threads! :)

I did a quick tour of some retailer pics and some have the newer picture of the hole at the end. New Graham however, still has the pic of the "dolphin eye" first run which is what you received.

Still a great looking knife!
