What is this Terzuola ATCF worth?

I've looked around and have had trouble finding one like this (bolsterless, only two screws in Micarta, no screw hole on presentation side). It's obviously not one of the super-nice ATCFs but the mere fact that it's a Terzuola means it's worth quite a bit. So I'm just trying to get realistic valuations.

Thanks!

Dude, read the rul....oh....uh...oh. Nevermind.

Serious answer: have you tried looking around online, Arizona Knives, Ebay?

I've looked at every single ATCF on Arizona Custom, both sold and unsold. I've glanced at Ebay but I can't stand that place so I had to stop. I'm here for more information!

Hey man, I went and had a look for you (least I could do!), and Terzuola folders go for quite a pretty penny. There was a similar knife to yours with an asking price of $1,200. I daresay you might have a sale on your hands with the right Terzuola collector. Others were asking for more, a LOT more.

Did you try to contact the man himself?
He's got a site on the web and is a really nice person.
Ever thought about refurbishing the knife?
Hope this helps.

The secondary market price of Bob's knives has inflated tremendously over the years. I'd say it true worth is no more than $750. However since it's a Terzoula and people are buying them as collectors items more-so, I'd say you'd have an easy time selling it for around $1,000-$2,000. Some may pay you more, or even offer you a trade for a more expensive knife from a lesser-known maker.

I've seen Bob's knives fetch $10,000. However, that's not to say Bob sold it for $10,000 to begin with.

That one looks pretty used. Not much of a collector beyond just wanting the name. Pieces like these sit if they are priced too high.

My guess is 800-1200.

What the he'll is 'true worth'? It's worth what someone will pay.

Also, I dont know where you've been but even if he gets 1500 for it, he won't be able to touch anything direct from Bob. His table prices start around 1800 now.

Want a knife from the guy who literally wrote the book? From a guy who isn't going to be making knives forever? From one of the most in demand makers? From a guy who only sells at like 4 shows a year? Gotta pony up.

By "true worth" I meant what Bob would have sold it for; it's not really exotic or anything. His table prices are high because the cache that surrounds his work in the past few years. If Bob is untouchable as you say, then how do you know what his table prices are? I thought you said that you can't get anything direct from him? Sounds like you're going in circles with a weak argument... Nothing new...

Pony up to what? I appreciate your long-winded response, but I'll stick to my opinion...

I'm not a Terzuola collector, but I like his designs, and find this kind of thing interesting -- so I decided to look around Arizona Custom Knives too (I check out the latest additions on a regular basis :)).

The asking price for the first all-Ti ATCF below is currently 1345$. It seems to be basically the same knife, but without the Micarta scale; your knife seems to have a higher and deeper hollow grind than usual, and finer serrations on the gimping. Most of the all-Ti ATCF's are liner-locks, and have asymmetrical handles, something a micarta scale would help 'even out'. Most of the other all-Ti ATCF liner-locks, all asymmetrical, with some differences in the blade grind, were asking similar prices -- one for 1399$, another for 1350$ (originally 1700$), and so on. Very nice knife to have in your collection.

This one, for whatever reason, sold in April for $1875:

Six or seven more all-Ti ATCF's went for somewhere between 1400-1800$ in the past year or so... once you go back a couple years, the prices drop off quickly, so it's not particularly instructive. This ATCF frame-lock with micarta sold for just $625... in 2008;).

I guess it supports the numbers others have given... probably around 1200$, if it were an all-Ti ATCF, but I think the rarity might counter the scuffs, and push it up higher (the micarta doesn't have the 'S' shaped edge curving around the notch that most of the similar scales have... is it possible it's an after-market scale?). Only a Terzuola collector ready to pay for it will give you a clear idea of worth. I'm sure this didn't help to clear anything up, but... meh. For the hell of it, here's a beautiful jade-handled Damascus Terzuola, that's currently priced at +7000$. It's been sitting a while, though:

Thank you for all the responses so far, they've been very helpful.

As full disclosure, this is not my knife, it belongs to someone who inherited it from his dad and is not super familiar with the knife world. The only reason I'm trying to help him get an honest valuation on it is so that he can avoid people trying to rip him off with lowball offers. I have no control over whether he sells it, so he might as well know what it's worth before being tempted to do so!

I'd say 800, at the most.

Better to just carry and use those early Terz's than to sell them in my opinion.

From Bob, the all Ti ATCFs were the cheapest. When I got one in 2008 it was $575 from Bob.

My guess for this knife, is that it is a bit older (based upon the mark) but I am no expert. I'd ask Bob (terzuola-at-earthlink.net) how old he thinks it is. If in good shape, I would not take less than $1200, if older???who knows what the rabid collector would pay :).

No I did not talk i circles. The OP will not be as to touch a knife direct from Bob for what he'll get for that knife in the secondary. I know Bob's table prices because I know Bob. I go to shows, I see the prices with my own eyes. Bob bought me a beer at Blade. I was lucky enough to get my ATCF direct from Bob before the prices doubled.

The OP's knife direct from Bob was probably 600ish when it was new, maybe even less. He can probably get roughly 1000 for it. Bob's table prices start at 1800 now.

Have the owner offer it to jim skelton. He feels any terz starts at two grand so if you offer it for anything less he may just bite.

The site Sikale pointed out gives you a nice impression about the develoment of the prices.
They even sell used ones, so if it is possible to get it refurbed by Bob T and then sell it you might achieve more.
Nice knife btw.
All the best
