Picked it up some 12 years ago at an antique/thrift shop in Chincoteague, Virginia. Shop person didn't know what it was and, as it was, I figured at only a buck & a half and being somewhat a gadget junkie, I'd find some use for it. There is s loop in the leather on what looks like the business end of the tool(?) that could fit on a 2 inch belt. Also, it has "THE BOSS" stamped into the steel shaft.

You put your fingers in the leather strap and grasp the tool.

Grab an ear of corn on the stalk, and use the curved portion to penetrate the top of the husk.

You then pull the husk apart and pull down to expose the ear.
