Went to crossroads of the west yesterday to look for a blade, lo and behold a vendor for an auction of some kind was selling spyderco! Walked up and bought a blade on the spot, now I'm hoping I didn't get a fast one pulled on me.

Needing help identifying what model (if it even is real) and what guidelines I should know before throwing money at vendors

Marks are consistent with those I've seen before but the kicker is that it has NO jimping and the pocket clip doesn't have the spydie logo which throws me off.

Handles are G-10 slabs, lock is a simple liner lock, pocket clip has pre-drilled holes for tip up and left handed carry. No box no papers. Will try to get images soon

The older counterfeits didn't have the logo on the pocket clip, now a lot of them do. It could be an after-market clip, it's hard to tell anything though with out pics.

What did you pay? What's the OAL and blade length. Just off what you've said I'll venture a guess and say either a Cat or one of the Tenacious line.

Get pictures and well tell you for sure. What all does the blade say?

We need pictures. There's lots of fake spydercos out there. I'm not sure what crossroads are (like a flea market?), but flea markets and that one auction site is where most fakes are sold.

Crossroads of the west is a gun show prevalent in the southwest. billboards everywhere for the shows. Blade has sal glesser and Eric glesser marks. Trade marks are spyderco CPM S30v and Golden,Colorado U.S.A. Earth

It's hard to say without pictures. The fakes today have Sal and Eric's marks and even come with proper paper work sometimes.

Stumped on this one. Can't find any liner locks in S30V with these specs.

If you can't post pics can you atleast describe the blade and handle shape? What about handle material and finish on it?

Also how are the clip screws arranged?

We want to help ya out man, I know I'm really curious, your just not giving us much to go on. If you can't do pictures make sure your using the correct terminology and take as exact of measurements as you possible can.

It's a normal liner lock or a compression (a liner lock in the top of the handle instead of the bottom)?

Blade is leaf shaped S30v supposedly
Handle shape is akin to a pm 2 yet just a tiny bit smaller, the handle material is G-10
Normal liner lock not a compression lock
All Torx screws
The handle clip is polished metal (don't know which kind don't light me on fire just yet)
Clip screws are in triangular pattern (one on each point)
Final nail in the coffin is white (nylon?) Washers sorry about the lack of actual pictures but I'm doing this all on mobile so that's impeding the process

Email me the picture and I'll post it up for you.

I don't know too much... But I have a PM2 and it's a compression lock. Has jimping on the spine and on the choil. Looks seems like a fake to me. PM1 and PM2 are compression locks.

Clip looks off too.

But what do I know..

Your best bet is to stick to authorized dealers to avoid fakes. Some of them are getting really hard to identify. Sorry you got burned.

Definitely a fake. Sorry that this has happened to you. Looks like the show is in your area again next month. I'd save it and take it back and confront the guy about selling fakes if he is there again or go next time and get his contact info and pass it along to Spyderco.
