Shucking oysters.Anyone know what this implement is used for?![]()
Most oyster knives do not have guards. It doesn't have the guard where the blade meets the handle, so I don't think its an oyster shucker.
Some do, some do not. Where I spent lots of time in Texas and Louisiana the ones I used and saw the most did not.My experience is, most DO have guards.
It sure looks like one to me, and the shape of the handle would be pretty comfortable to use for such.Thank you. But you do agree it is an oyster shucker?
I don't know what to tell you other than to shop online for oyster knives and see the variety for yourself. I've used a lot of oyster knives myself and I've come to prefer those without guards, much like yours. My experience is, most DO have guards.
