What is up with the email system here at BF?

It works great for paying members but if you have a memebership you can't communicate through emails from the non paying person.



I get emails from people but my replies don't go back to them. What is up with that? It has been like this for a long LONG time and this is the first time I complained.

I am referring to people who do not have a membership and have no PM box. But they can use the email system under my username (yes it is set up properly). WHY CAN"T BF can't fix it and allow PM system for all members? Because it is not fair to the paying members with a Gold name that potential buyers can't contact them. That is what we are Paying for!

Or put a sticky on all sales threads that a buyer w/o membership MUST leave their email in the thread if they want contact back from the buyer.

Nobody gets your emails? I can understand some. They may not have email enabled. Some replies may go to spam folders.
 
The email system works for me. It might lag a bit but it always makes it through. PMs take storage space. Space costs money. That is what you pay for, and the ability to sell, and the desire to not see ads. You don't pay for non paying member's ability to contact you AFAIC.

I am talking about when they email me through this site. I receive but it has happened a few times that they do not receive my return emails.

Did you email him directly with the email he gave you? That is what you should have done. At that point BFC is out of the email loop and any issues would be between you and the buyer and your emails. Also, when I receive an email through BFC from a reg user it lists their email. I then email them from my personal email. Again, it takes BFC out of the email loop. No issue there.

Not really sure what your issue is?
 
Who is the mod here that deals with technical issues like this? I need to speak to the right person. I need to show them what is going on with a video or something to explain. This same email thing is happened again happened again yesterday. Thios is why I prefer people have a memebership that I do deals with because the whole email system here does not work.. I have been a member here for a long time so I know when something ain't working.

Though it has been happening for the past 6 months or so I thought it would get fixed. So I waited and waited and the email kept screwing people around. So evidently the tech guys are the ones I need to speak to directly . They need to know what the problem is before they can fix it.
 
Perhaps a registered user should try to send colubrid an email. At least we would all know what is happening on one end of the loop.

As was another case yesterday where a member emailed me. I sent him 2 emails and on the third email he replied and said he never got the previous 2 . I have had a lot of bad communication issues with sales when people email me from the BF system. I receive the emails but they don't get my replies.

This started about 6 months ago and I am wondering f it is my old window 7 operating system. Some sites are upgraded to where all of a sudden an older system like mine does not work properly with a websites "new" system.. even though it worked fine for years before. I have had problems with ebay and other sites lately as well.

I am seeing in my sent folder that email replies from a email sent from BF are converted by automatically adding : 'Wieblo0418 - BladeForums.com' <info@bladeforums.com> .

some go thru and some don't
 
In the case of the sales thread to which you linked - the prospective buyer posted his email in thread. Did you use it? If so, it has nothing to do with the site's email system (which has been known be inconsistent, at best). Perhaps a quick review your (personal) email settings is indicated?

This does not seem like a bfc issue.

After several emails I did use that and he did respond. .

I have been doing hundreds of deals here on BF for many years. I know when something is wrong. Just had a guy esterday contact me sevral times over a trade and he never received my responses because he was sending emails from my username and return emails would not work.

If people post their emails in a thread I have no problem reaching or responding to them. It is only when they send me an email through the system here.



The link I shared was just an example of one instance. This has been going on for a while.
 
We were having issues before with DKIM and various email companies blocking EVERYTHING. We've resolved that by using SMTP relay through google, but now have discovered google is throttling the number of emails going through it so we'll have to figure something else out.

In the meantime, I'd suggest if you are having issues talking with someone try using their personal email address instead of the forums system.
