Is this for real? Check out these prices...maybe there is something about them that I do not know but that is awfully cheap. EDIT***Nevermind...They are made out of some material called grivory, whatever the heck that is! Turns out grivory is the polymer plastic replacement for metal these days. Supposedly it has teh same strength and durability characteristics of die cast metal. Well int was interesting to learn what it was nontheless LOL.

They certainly don't look like something I'd be adding to my collection any time soon.

Mind you, I could seel my Sebbie and my SnG and buy lots and lots of them .....

Those are the Cold Steel line of plastic knives, basicly made to sneak through metal detectors.

Yep. Kryton or something like that. Basically injection molded, but same shape as the metal ones.

They get fairly sharp, but are still mostly letter openers.

They're designed to get into govt buildings, airports, etc. without hassle. Not a terrible EDC solution if you fly a lot, and are super-paranoid :D

And if anyone is still dumb enough to do that, they're also easy to pack and take along on your government-sponsored 'vacation'!

;)

Keep in mind that trying to carry a non-metalic knife through a metal detector is hard to justify as "oh, I forgot about that." No, the non-metalic nature of the knife makes your attempt to evade security pretty obviously deliberate. In some states, a fully-non-metalic knife may be illegal.

Why major knife manufactures feel the needs to make and sell such items is beyond me. Let's try and give knives a worse name by making ones that sneak through metal detectors!

Hey, it is cold steel- their marketing is one or two notches away from Dork Ops. They want you to feel like a badass.

Well I know I just left the country last week and then returned 7 days later and I tell you while I was going through all of these checkpoints I was trying to figure out where an individual could hide such a knife and get away with it. I mean you cannot pack it in your bag, at least not the places I went through because they run it through anXray machine and then hand pick through everything. Even going through the metal detector I had t o empty pockets, take off my shoes, send them with the baggage, and thn on the other side of the metal detector I was frisked very thoroughly. The sad thing was that was in America, I went to the Netherlands and their security makes our airport security look like a joke, seriously. It is sad too because most of our citizens get fed this crap about how we are the safest country in the world to live in and our airports are the most safe in the world, etc. LOL that is a bunch of BS!!!! If you go to a foreign country you will know what I mean.

I mean on my trip to the Netherlands as soon as we got off the place, we were patted down again, questioned, were met by what looked like soldiers, carrying fully automatic machine guns, and wearing full body armor among other things. I mean it looked like something you would see in a war stricken country at the end of the days. They had security monitors and mics in places all over and place you would least expect them. Even when you thought security wasn't around, they were around if you know what I mean. I can go on and on and on about that but on a final note even when we went outside there was checkpoints around the airport and around the city where they had more guards, fully armored vehicles, boyd armor, and guess what, more automatic weapons. It was insanely rediculous and made our airports look like a joke, but yet ours are supposedly safer. Yeah Right!

I can't think of a single reason a normal person would want to smuggle a plastic knife through a metal detector. These do make a decent SD weapon left in wet places, like the bathroom or in a shower. That's the only use I see for them.

Excelent point, thay do look dark Ops-ish is quality though.

Most of the plastic Cold Steel knives are based on existing CS knives, so no I don't think they LOOK like the knives in DO pictures. But its just the sort of thing they would make...
