What is a "flipper notch" and "wave action"?????

Ive heard these terms used alot for the Cuda Max

Thanks

Basically, it is a notch on the top of the blade near the hings that faces out when the knife is closed. It is designed so that when you draw the knife from you're pocket, the notch catches the hem and opens the knife. I know there are some Emerson vids around the net, but i can not remember the links :/

Emerson knives have a patented system called the Wave, wihich is a notch at the top of the blade, meant to catch on the edge of your pocket and pop the blade open when you pull it out.

The CUDA Maxx is a tip down knife, so a Wave won't work on it, but it opens by means of flippers, which are blade guards integrated with the blade, not the handle. They can work like the Wave, hence "wave action", once the knife is already out of your pocket, by raking the flipper against any available edge. The flipper catches because it is slightly curved, forming a notch facing backwards.

I mostly carry my Cuda Maxx 7.0 in my pocket, with the tip up and attached to a lanyard that hangs out of my pocket. This way it is concealed and I can wave it open.

I tried the 'wave action' and the 'flipper notch' the other night during a date. I ended up getting hurt real bad, and the gal I was dating won't return my calls.

Technique, brother, Technique!

You've got to be smooth, and practice ahead of time so you're confident when you pull it out! :D
