I don't know why it would do this but I will say what you've probably heard a thousand others say: Ditch that POS browser and get Firefox!
BTW, in Firefox, if you hold the Ctrl key and rotate your mouse wheel you will increase/decrease the font size in the window. Maybe that IE POS has started doing this for you automatically ....

If so, maybe http://extension.missouri.edu/eden/Help/small-text-IE.htm will help.
I'd also check recent add-ons. I've had some Apple intended programs affect all sorts of stuff in MS applications that I thought were not even related.
