I am a yard sale / flea market junkie. My wife and I go as often as we can. Sometimes we get great deals on things we can use around the house, items we always wanted but could not afford the full price, we have found things that I have given as gifts, etc.

Last year, I was all excited to find a Spyderco Dragonfly Clipit for $1.00 on a table full of pretty much junk otherwise. And eariler this year in a non knife related item, I got a beigh denium/canvas like Australian Outback Duster in 2XL for $8.00. I have seen these online for as much as $300.....There are lots of great deals out there waiting to be found !!!

This year, I came across a Blade Tech Pro Hunter. Being a CRK and Hinderer fan, I mainly concentrate on their knives and dont bother with the smaller companies. Well, being as I am pretty much tapped out from the Hinderers I have been buying and trading for, I have been starting to look at some of the other companies that I have overlooked in the past.

Last week I saw the Blade Tech. Honestly, I had not heard of them before, but I saw the blade marked S30V. Well, I should have known that S30V is only put on premium knives pretty much. Since I had not heard of them before, I passed on this knife. WELL, when I came home and looked them up, I quickly found out that I made a big mistake in not getting this knife........So, the rest of the week I was kicking myself in the Butt for not getting it. I happened to look on the forums and found an Orange Blade Tech Magnum Pro Hunter for a great price. I snatched that up and its on its way to my door as I type.........

Today, I was able to get to the flea market again and low and behold, the guy was there. I got there just as he was unpacking and when he dumped out his box of knives. The Blade Tech Pro Hunter..................................................Was Still There. The price ?? $20.00. I quickly paid the $20 knowing what a deal I was getting knowing they cost $200 new.

Its scuffed up here and there and the clip is scratched as well. There is alot of crud about, but the edge is perfect, the lock-up is perfect, there is no blade play in any direction. there are 2 screws missing in the G-10 frame.

The knife has Black G-10 and is a liner lock with S30V Blade. Not bad for $20 Bucks. Once I get it all cleaned up and hopefully some screws, I will post Updated Pics.

I already emailed Blade Tech and asked about screws. So I should hear from them this week. Even if they will not sell me some, I asked what size they are so I can get some somewhere. I also wanna get some original clip screws. So hopefully they will let me buy a few !!

I know I know, Pics or it didn't happen right ??? Here You Go....Enjoy !!!

i hit the yard sales and flea markets every chance i get.
i've found a few treasures on my adventures. just this summer, i found a spyderco grey sprint ladybug ce that i got for 10 bucks, talked the guy down from 15.
went to a local flea market and saw a knife in the case with a little butterfly on the blade. asked the guy to see it and it turned out to be a bm mini stryker ce, talked him down to 8 dollars from 10, and went to the same place the next week and found a cold steel medium voyager for 4 dollars.
ealier in the summer, my wife and i went to an estate sale to check it out. there was a tray full of junk on one of the tables and i started digging through it. i found an old slip joint and asked the folks what they wanted for it. they said i could have the entire tray and contents for 1 dollar. all the other stuff was junk, so i said all i wanted was the knife. the guy said i could just have it. i brought it home and cleaned the minimal rust and crud off the knife, and it turned out to be an old usa boker two blade with pale yellow delrin scales.
i've also found a few old compasses and a trench lighter and spent no more than two bucks for any of them.
later,
don

I got these Case stag tiny toothpicks for $15 at the flea market at few weeks ago. Did I need three? YES

Nice scores ! You got a killer deal on the Blade-tech.

15 years ago or so I was helping my brothers in laws with a yard sale after a family member passed on.
I had to go to work so I didnt see all of it.
I learned after I got off work that he had a whole cigar box full of slipjoints for a buck a pop.... Nobody remembered what a knife nut I am !?!

I was not pleased...

:D

I really never find anything cool..

Wow, you got some good deals as well. I see alot of Buck 110's, USA made Schrades, and other quality USA made knives, but most of the time the blades are broken or ground down heavily, I pass on these. Today I also could have got a Cold Steel AK-47 for $10, not sure what they go for. it was nib. Also they had a pink spyderco. It looked like it had aluminum handles and was like the cricket, but it had a blade like my dragonfly has. I just looked through the spyderco site and did not see it. It was $6 and nib also. Saw a beautiful vintage schrade 2 blade pocket knife, but the main blade was ground down heavily....I was so happy with the Blade Tech, it certainly made my day after kicking myself in the butt for passing it up last week. I guess fate would have it that it belong to me....lol.

Those Case knives were an awsome deal as well. Especially Stag ones. Congrats on a Great Score !!

WOW.. nice find... the only good knives i have really found at the flea/yard sales, are SAK's and the occasional slip-joint..

not a knife, but I picked up a Foredom in really good condition with whole bunch of steel burs and grinding points for $30. Good find for me because my Dremel is about 30+ years old single speed.

i got a stupid slipjoint knife years ago that said "case" on the side and looked like the blade was messed up so I gave it to my grandfather who loved it.

found out years later when I got into knives that I had just gotten a great deal on a case sod buster and given it away. he still uses the knife so i guess it worked out

i've never come across anything nearly as god as the afore mentioned $20 badetech...only seen some chepo-china made folders and some slippies in beat up condition. hopefully one day i'll score something neat.

spyderco rescue ($3), buck 110broke tip ($3), wolf pup ($21),and a couple of boker, old kissing crane, and other slip joints for less than $10 at flea market

Great score on the Pro Hunter.

A long while back I got a mother of pearl Seki lockback VG-10 for 4 bucks at a thrift shop.

This thread just reinforces the notion that one man's junk is another man's treasure.

I'd say beware of flea market finds though when it comes to really popular models. You could be coming home with a fake. This is when the phone comes in handy for looking up things online.

Mine would probably be the Western Cutlery "Shark" military model that I picked up for $10 this weekend, in it's original issue sheath. I didn't know much about it, other than it was a Western. The leather stack handle was literally going to pieces as I handled it. Figured I'd take it home and put a new handle on it and have another knife to beat around with. Came home and did some research, found a few for sale on collector sites for up to $230, in not much better condition than mine. I don't want to ruin a knife like that, so I decided to ebay it and hopefully a collector or someone who can give the knife the TLC it deserves will get it. If I only get my $10 back out of it, so be it.

I once found a leatherman micra for $2 at a surplus type store. I was pretty happy with that find.

I also found I knife I wouldnt have normally ever bought or taken a second look at, I think it was $3-4 and I wasnt famliar with the brand so I thought why not. It's a "COLT RIDGE RUNNER Skinner Hunter Fixed Blade CT17 Knife".

Nothing fancy but I was overall impressed with the fit and finish of a chinese made knife that would normally run you $20. I actually left it at a old job about 5 or 6 years ago, and I recently came back to help during the busy season for some extra cash - and there it was! floating around in a tool box beat to hell. I can't believe it's held up to some serious work over a period of years... I shoulda taken it with me but I just couldnt, someone was getting some good use outta that cheap knife I'd never use.

I just got a Camillus "tip Top" 1940's pocket knife, I think. Two handfuls of items for $2. I'm still trying to find out how much it's worth!

I can never find good knives (as I'm not really into slip joints) at the local sales around here. I have found a few good non knife related buys though. The best flea market find was a 3/4" Snap On ratchet w/19" handle for $20. The best yard sale find was a nice Weber gas ignited charcoal grill for $25.
