What is your blade combo in case of emergency?

I strongly believe that most of us here have a very wide selection of weapons/tools at our disposal so asking which ONE to take would be silly at best,so i thought what you guys would take as a urban/rural survival/emergency situation in terms of knives/axes/shovels/hammers etc and why that particular choice.
Ill start
Buck Paclite for general utility/food prep
Leatherman Core
20" CAK or CS Trench Hawk for wood.

As a side note if i had the several hundred extra $ i would buy a Busse Killa Zilla and a Fallkniven F1.

i dont think crap would change for me..... i should start by saying i don't believe in SHTF or WROL or any other stupid acronym that gives a mall ninja a hard on because it means pure anarchy and they can put on their paint ball vest and take out their$800 AR-15 with that will jam faster than quick clot in a cut while being outfitted with a red dot, grip, light, gps, car keys, ipad and dvd player on the rails.

if i was going out in the woods for a few night stay or going on a hunt in the mountain's for a week in the fall. i think these would be some good choices i might have close to me

FOLDING EDC : duel gunner grip SnG. because of the blade stock and ease of use with gloves

FIXED UTILITY: strider DB with 3V. because if i do something that might be ethically questionably as far as knife uses i want the toughest steel

HATCHET : knives of alaska hunter's hatchet. because it is a solid design that has a good sheath and a strong handle

BATONING :ESEE junglas. this forum will tell you everything you need to know about my decision

BUSHCRAFT: spyderco bushcraft. i enjoy the design. it is comfortable with no hot spots, good steel, good size and it just works.... i would change out the sheath
for a custom sheath that could hold a fire steel

i could never carry all of these . those are just my first choices in each category of heavy duty/ overbuilt knives. i would pick the strider SnG for sure and the hatchet and the fixed blades would be a toss up depending on weather or terain or circumstace.

I personally take the idea of WROL seriously since the country where i was born just had a civil war and a little bit of racial driven genocide,I however dont have much respect to guys that pick overrared weapons just to feel badass,I'd much rather have a 91/30 than any m4/m16 and variants.
Just out of curiousity how come not a BK9 instead of the Junglas? Also, would you take a tomahawk(traditional or tactical) instead of a hatchet?

I'd take this (I take it sometimes anyways)

And my CS Vaquero since it's bombproof.

I'd rather the opposite, however, I wouldn't hang a bunch of tactical crap on it. No rails please.

To each their own,I personally prefer stopping power/reliability and the fact that i can hunt any game in North America with a 7.62x54 since we're on the subject of "In case".I think i would only use rails if i didnt like the sight the gun comes with, otherwise i dont see a point.

i have not used a bk9 personally and these where knives i have handled or even owned. ( mostly handled or used a friends model only unfortunately. i want to own them all because there all nice but im not into bushcrafting or woods work currently i would like to develop some skills though ). the hatchet is not for throwing or killing or defense of any kind. it could actually be a good felling or "falling" axe for taking down trees for my shelter or wood etc. and a splitting hatchet for course bushcraft work and splitting smaller trees and bigger logs.

i dont need any weapons for this kit.i need tools. i would use snares and other small traps made with the bushcraft knife. when in survival it can be dangerous or deadly to wonder far from an established campsite, or water source you have found or developed. not to mention the dangers of almost any travel in the mountains such as animal's or injuries caused by terrain. survival is a lot less about killing and more about fire, water and shelter and i want the tools to accomplish those tasks the best. i don't even need to kill game. i could pick berries and other plants if Im knowledgeable about the dangers of them. also like i said i turned this into a mountain hunting scenario for my so i would prey to have my rifle or bow even though they would not be crucial to my success and survival. ( these are my opinions and you may differ neither of us are right or wrong)

MY LAST WORDS ABOUT WROL BECAUSE THIS IS A KNIFE FORUM. i should say wrol could happen such as civil war, destruction of the dollar etc... we had a revolution, a civil war and a major economic collapse. we did not rape, pillage and kill as a society. people chose political sides and soldiers fought on the battle field. but for the civilians life went on. yes life styles changed in the war and people where affected but it was never this free for all where we all needed guns or we where going to do to die. the minnute men fought and died for us and i would do the same. but i dont feel the need to hoard gear because of an emp or gas missle. it wont destroy us. it will just make life harder. and for the dollar. people will be mad as hell but they will worry about their family, and getting food to the table and keeping jobs etc..... not overthrowing our government

im tired of the people who study combat tactics and hoard differnt $2000 plus guns because it is the best in a firefight or whatever. my family collects firearms we use for recreation, hunting, sport and home defense. yes we do have pistols and shotguns for protection ready to go but it is for protecting our family and property. not patroling the streets looking like we just flew out of the damn 5.11 catalog. so we are ready for valid threats that we have experienced as a society for a long time. and we have guns that are fun to shoot like .22's, 9mm, .45's, .40's, .44's, 30-30's, 5.56's etc and we have .308's, 30-06's, .300's, 12ga., 20ga's, 410ga's and 50. cal muzzle loaders for hunting. we are protected but not hoarding firearms for the end of the world. just a fun day in the back yard range or a morning in the deer blind.
( im done with the topic)

bryan,
have a nice day

bryan,

I have a mentality of "theres no such thing as overkill, just getting the job done",sorry if my opinion pissed you off,i didnt mean it to do so.I would argue that in this society an EMP would turn into a Mad Max sequel, ill refrain.

nope im not mad at all! in general as a group we like to talk about knives the reason we are on blade forums. if i wanted to talk about guns, lights, electronics, cars, trucks, hunting, games etc...... i would go to a forum where that is what it is its specialty

you asked a question involving knives that also had just as much about it as wrol. adding that wrol component often brings up other things and it gets away from the question or scnario about knives which is what we are here to discuss. i think the best question are what are your fav. survival tools or tool you would want for a multiple day stay in so and so enviroment. because that is how we learn from eachother. we listen to the people who have tested their gear on trips or outings similar to your location and that would help you make a choice. like i said ivery little of my choices where based off of hours and days of use. just what i think might be good and i could have made horrible choices and passed those ideas on to to others. this thread would be more productive if you asked the best folder, fixed blade and hatchet for so and so terain like.... the east coast shore line, or midwest hardwood forests or the pacific north west because everything will vary by land type and it will lead to your best information if you include things or questions like that not just a blanket question where you can get so side tracked it is crazy

bryan,
have a nice night

This thread is lacking PIKSHOORS!

...unfortunately I can't contribute on this point as I seem to have misplaced my camera :D But for the sake of it, I'd pack everything that's in my closet at present: Fällkniven S1, GB Hatchet, Bahco laplander and my Spyderco Sage. Who knows, maybe I'll even have time to pick up a Hinderer folder before said civil unrest happens?

Good point sir,I just thought that general knife discussion part of this forum would be suitable for this kind of topic.I dont think threads derailing is a bad thing because it can sometimes bring up good points as well.

If the emergency is foreseeable, then this.

If not, then it will probably be whatever I have in my pocket.

Never underestimate a good knife in times of emergency. That said, knives aren't enough to save your bacon in the event of a national melt down. I remember the New York blackouts years ago when people were running around in mobs wielding baseball bats, chains and knives. And while the idiot politicians were banning switchblades, the mobs were carrying (and always have carried) kitchen knives. Why? They're large, strong and disposable. Only Hollywood twits carried switchblades.

So knives are a good secondary weapon. Cold Steel makes some outstanding two-handed machetes and other weapons, including an indestructible baseball bat. A Ruger Mini-14 in one's trunk can be intimidating, and Ruger also recently released a take-down 10/22 that doesn't need to be zeroed in each time it's taken apart and put back together. You can keep a scope on it all the time.

For street use, the Buck Hoodlum is a good way to go, as well as a CS Rajah II. The new CS Voyager line also is a top choice knife. Again, guns quickly nullify a knife advantage, though both are needed.

My gun choice would have to be CZ 858 or 91/30 because of reliability and its easy to find rounds.Your post just confirms that in times of crisis people will resort to their caveman ways (for the most part) so being armed will come in handy.Im not saying people should be paranoid but prepping doesnt seem like a bad idea, after all almost everyone has a spare tire and rarely if ever gets to use it,why not have some in case gear like a BOB/GOOD bag and some melee/firearms?

Since I only own and carry folders... my Emergency kit would look as follows:
On my person:
ZT 0551
Spyderco Chokwe
Vic. Old Cross Silver Alox Electrician
Bic lighter
Zebra Pen F-301
Paracord bracelet

In my back pack:
HK Conspiracy
Kershaw Skyline
Custom SAK
Couple of good flashlights
Extra batteries
Paracord

Etc.
