You know mine. Previously I worked in manufacturing with a large seal company. I was there for 37 years, the only job I ever had! For the first 27 years it was family owned, a great place to work. Then it was bought by a large corporation, and started to go downhill as far as treating employees went. I literally started out sweeping floors, workinig my way through different positions in the company, including elastomer molding, metal stamping, and a long stint as a machinist / tool and die maker. The last 5 years I was a supervisor in charge of 18 people in the machining part of the company. So what kind of work do you all do?

I'm in graduate school finishing up a masters in Biomedical Science, and applying to medical school. I work as the aquatics director at a country club, supervising the lifeguard and swim coach staff and running the pools. I also have a part time job as an office assistant in a doctor's office. Alot of after hours filing and book keeping type stuff.

I did a lot of manual labor early on. Delivering soda, beer, liquor and wine (not as fun as it seems), warehouse work and stuff like that for several years. I also spent a chunk of time as a waiter which was fun, paid well for the hours, and gave me an appreciation for the hard work lots of people do every day.

I got an education degree after a while and have been teaching elementary school (2nd grade right now) for about 12 years. I took a year and a half off to be Mr. Mom for my son and it really was a nice time to take a break from the work world. Being away got me excited to teach again and unless I do something stupid, I'll be teaching for the next few decades.

Say what you will about bad teachers being protected by the unions, and there are some, but realize that most of us really care about kids and making some sort of difference in young people's lives. It's a pretty good gig, especially in this economic climate.

You name it and I have probably done it. After the Military there was not much demand for blowing things to hell so I got a Job in building construction and worked as a foreman for about eight years but I never could stand boss's or time clocks so I took what I had learned and went into business for myself. I did all kinds of building. I finally got sick of blue prints and sub contractors so I started doing mostly pole buildings and then started guiding Hunters in the Fall and fishermen to Canada in the spring. I also had a FFL and sold guns and fishing gear. Part of our construction also included tree removal and cutting and selling firewood.

I am retired now but still guide a few people on deer hunts and a few fishing trips up North. I make waking sticks for a hobby and that keeps me in the woods and shelter belts. I never got rich either but for the last 36 years, I have had no boss, no time clock and I have a small farm all paid for to move to when my wife retires. That could be as early as this July.

i am probably going into medical school for diagnostic radiology, or i may go into some medical feild involving Physics.

Currently work on a printing press- job itself is okay(read kinda dull), but the pay is very good.

Formerly a deputy sheriff, bodyguard, TSCM tech., Private investigator.

Have a BA in education. Been a cook, restaurant manager, account manager, martial arts instructor, salesman. Currently sell mobile phones (I hate it but it pays the bills) I love to teach martial arts, my instructor and I are testing some ideas. We teach LEO defensive tactics too. I have a little painting/landscaping company too. 1 employee-me.

I worked for eight years in a papermill, eventually doing every production job and programming and maintaining the computer system that ran the wet end of the mill.
After moving to Oregon I worked as a bouncer and warehouse worker moving on to driving trucks for the warehouse and then over the road.
Last year She Who Must Be Obeyed and I bought a truck and went into business for ourselves. So far we have lost money and I have only been home once in a year.
Things will get better though...

Frequently all at once. It's pretty confusing here. :o

I'm a stage technician (a roadie that doesn't go anywhere) for a HUGE company run by a mouse. I mostly do stage electrics and rigging, but am an all around stage hand. I also do the same job at a local junior college.

Somehow I became a Firefighter at the age of 22. Wasnt a career I craved, just fell into it. Retired two years ago. Now working part time for a local fire extinguishing and equipment co. I have to get away from this fire thing, been around it to long.

My sister does a lot of the hiring and firing for a company like that. The sign on her desk reads "Protect The Mouse". Hmmmmm.

I'm an IT Business Analyst in the medical devices field. I do lots of software rollouts/validation. It's sort of a stepping stone for me right now, but it's a pretty good stone to step on. The only thing that drives me CRAZY about it is the complete lack of any fulfillment or sense of accomplishment. I'm fully convinced most of my work matters a TON to my company, but doesn't matter at all in the grand scope of the world. Oh well.. it pays the bills. I just make sure that I have fulfilling hobbies to balance it out.

I am currently in college to be a radiologist( x-ray technician). My old man wanted me to go into the medical field but I dont really like blood and guts. I figured this is about the least gory field I could go into and Ive heard they make is decent living so I went for it.

I really enjoyed my time as Mr. Mom too. I never spent so much time at the zoo, museums, in parks or best yet, on the various hiking trails with my little son.

At times it was a bit like Groundhog Day. Each day a but different, but overall the same thing. I got tired of storytime at the library every week, but spending time with my son and watching him grow was amazing. Also the side projects making guitar effects pedals and woodworking made all the difference. I needed something to contribute to the family finances and engage my mind and hands in a different way.
