Yes, yes, yes, it's part of a Zappa lyric, so shoot me. :D

So, people have written commandments about "10 Essentials" and all that rot. SO...

What are your absolute 12 Essentials that you would always choose to have in a survival situation?

For a little bonus, pick 6 more for a dozen and a half in total.

FEMA is for continuity of government, what do you use for your life's continuity?

Mossberg 500 12ga
Colt 1911 Series 70 (1975)
Becker BK9
Becker BK2
ESEE3
Coleman Dual Fuel Stove
Zebra Billy Can
USGI Canteen and Cup

USGI Poncho

Cell phone w/charged battery

Others
Road Flares
Paracord

Hammock
CLIF bars (peanut butter)

Thats them. I'm sure I failed this test, but its what I would want for both urban and wilderness survival.

I'll take number 77. Thanks.

I'm assuming we are talking about short term wilderness survival, so...

Machete
Suunto Compass
Poncho
Bic Lighter
Ferro Rod
Water bottle
Waterproof Bivy Bag
First Aid Kit
Cell Phone
PocketRef

If I added a little food stuff then this would be a camping trip to me, so it could be long term instead of short-term.

EDIT: I just counted and I see I only have 10 items but unless we can throw in a blonde haired, blue eyed chik and a bottle of Cazadores tequila to keep me company I'm fine with 10.

ESEE-6
Lite-Machete
Ferro Rod
Paracord (with my fish & fire kit)
First Aid Kit
Compass
8' x 10' Canvas Tarp (doubles as poncho, shelter or Alaskan Backpack)
A Camera

That's all I can think of right now.

Junglas
RC-3MIL
Izula II
Suunto Compass
Firekit
Bic lighter
Headlamp
Water bottle
Water Filter
Swack shack
300' paracord
AMK heat sheet bivy bag

Bonus:
Wool sweater
Wool watch cap
Poncho
Rucksack SAK
Nomex gloves
Stainless cup

These are the core items of my current survival pack.

What is an ASK? I googled and found out what a zebra billy can is. These lists are always interesting to see what people really think are essential. As for me cellular phones in my neck of the woods don't work so I supplement with a HAM radio. If there is cell service I can go through a repeater. No cell service I can hit a satellite every 45 minutes and contact someone that will be close to a phone.
