Recommendation? what is your dream folding knife

You mean off the shelf ?
I don't have one / they all suck in one way or another  :)

. . . now . . . if we are talking with a little mod mod that's all different.
I'll get back to you with some links to mods.
to not leave you in complete free fall / catatonia (is that a word?) . . . think Cold Steel Ti Lite IV . . . CTS-XHP . . . full flat ground . . . 1.9mm at the spine ;)

Here you go Link>>>>>
It's a wordy thread; if you get bored page down .

You thought that was wordy; guess you are warmed up for this'n Link>>>>

Now combine those two : Put the KreyEx scales on the Ti Lite and change the steel to M4 . . . oh and add me a compression lock or axis lock while we are at it . . .
annnnnnnd . . .
We are getting into the realm of what I call a knife.
All the others are just fooling around with flat slabby handles and blades that are too wide (AND THICK) for their length.
Nice to have in the pocket; highly suspect cutting tools however.

IMO :) :D :)

For slip joint I REALLY like the sog terminus. I like the scales and heavy blade. It's a 2 hand opener but that doesn't bother me. The Spyderco UK pen is another favorite. Slip joint also. I'm a NYC frequent visitor.

If I had to pick a folder I'd say a Slysz Bowie. I've been wanting one for a while but the used market is ridiculous, people wanting $400 or more. I really want a Benchmade Infidel though, yeah it's an OTF but those are the two I've mainly been scoping out for a while now.

why do you love it so much?
Oops forgot that bit.
The handle shape allows me to roll the handle in my fingers yet grip it well for a verity of grips. The thin but long blade works super well for . . . cutting things. All you have to do is cut up an apple with such a thin full flat blade then try a hollow ground thick spined monstrosity and there will be no question in your mind.

Why M4 ? cuts forever, easy to sharpen, superior push cutting edge characteristics.
CTS-XHP all of the above just less so.

Why KreyEx grippy handles ? Ever drop a knife ? When your hands are wet and cold ?
And THE STUFF IS SUPER LIGHT ! I can carry that Urban Trapper in the bottom of my pocket and not even know it is there. Not bad for a knife with a 3.5 inch blade ! ! !

Generally I carry both of these in a belt pouch. The Ti Lite is too much in the pocket and the Urban Trapper has ball bearings (which I don't need) that I want to keep away from pocket lint. Pocket clips are in the way on both of these so I left them off.

My dream folder is my Shirogorov F3 in Elmax. Its weight, heft, feel, build quality and action are all inspiring. It's a workhorse begging to be used hard and put away wet.

Two folders come to mind, the Hinderer Jurassic or Chris Reeve Umnumzaan. Both are built like a tank and are capable of lasting a lifetime if used as intended.

A Reate Jack with a hinderer clip. The Jack comes the closest to perfection of anything I have. The double row ceramic bearings are smooth and much stronger due to a much wider diameter contact area to the blade tang. Those said bearings ride against a steel washer and the blade tang.....not the titanium scale. It also has a ceramic detent, and it's an integral. The lock pin is also huge and ridiculously strong. The blade is slicey enough due to a high flat grind. I just dont prefer milled titanium clips.....much prefer the hinderer style.

There are better folding knives, but the best knives (TWO) that I own are ZT 0095TANBLK in S90V.

I don't know there really is such a thing for me but I can tell you this, if case released a 6208 in CV I'd jump on it in a heartbeat.

I’m still waiting(and hoping) for the Spyderco Swayback to be officially announced. If it’s sporting an XHP(realistic) or CruWear(nonrealistic) blade I’d really consider it a dream knife.

If we’re talking about knives we already own I’m still loving my Fayette Jack.

Perfect size for me to carry, slices like a dream, and it looks damn pretty doing it. It hasn’t left my watch pocket since I’ve received it. There’s a few more traditional patterns I’d like to try, but I haven’t really been searching them out like I had been.

so far my gareth bull small shamwari. 2.75" m390 on bearings, contoured ti handles.

Its just so well designed and executed. Fun to play with and i carry it almost every day. Even being so small i dont tend to find myself needing bigger blades. Its very useful, excellent grind to the blade and a hell of a slicer also. The jimmping texture is perfect and the pocket clip is brilliant. Pocket clips typically fall into a good or bad designation in my mind. How hard it is to get into the pocket and how well it holds the knife and bull just made one that stands out to me. Excellent blade to handle ratio. The crowned spine transitioning to a swedge is awesome.

The knife really is a functional work of art

Zero grind finger flicker with 65+hrc steel. Carbonfiber handles.
