Probably staged, but I worked in police communications for a few years, and it's not far off the mark.
We deal with a lot of foriegn students, who are a little sketchy about cars at times. One lad called for a jump-start 3 days in a row. I asked him why he didn't buy a new battery. He said that wasn't the problem; his dome light wouldn't turn off because the door had been tweaked in an accident.
"Uh, why don't you take the bulb out?"
"Oh, they come out?"
These are the best and the brightest, mind.
