what are your guys favorite cutting oils for drill press/bandsaw work and why?

Iv been readin about beeswax and ATF and lard and all kinds of stuff.haha what you guys prefer?

Tap Magic is a tried and true performer. It has a funny smell but I have always had good luck with it.
In the tech schools around here they use lard for tapping.

I like a product called Jokisch Ultra Universal HDS400 made by Intercom Enterprises INC. 604-946- 6066. It's more like an oil and is sulphure free. It works the best for me on stainless and titanium as well as Damascus. It's far better than the Cool Tool stuff. Frank

I have a large quantity of Rapid Tap, but I'm not a fan since I discovered the leak in one of my cans in my new set of drawers. Good thing it is a plastic drawer.

The machine shop at work is where I got mine after the powers that be closed the shop down. I have a lifetime supply for me now.

I use my windex/rubbing alcohol mix occasionally on the bandsaw/drill and Jig-A-Loo silicone spray for tapping.

tap magic for drilling and tapping. castrol makes a bandsaw lube, comes in a tube, not sure what it is but it resembles wax and works very well.

Tap Magic or ATF gets the job done for me. I've had great success with both. Granted I have only had to drill/tap/machine through titanium, aluminum (6061 & 7075) chrome moly, 4130/4140 & cast &/or nodular iron. The knife makers/machinists here I'm sure have a far more diverse medium for machining than I do...and I don't envy that. :D

rapid tap and tap magic for aluminium or thin mild steel, moly-dee for 303, 304, 17-4ph, and 4340 qtsr
