There was a thread that started out fun, but then ignited and had to be locked to smother the flames. This is an attempt to start over, without the "stuff."

Scarman began thus:
Past or present what is your favorite Bladeforums forum category and/or your favorite thread.
While I don't have a particular favorite category, I do spend most of my time in the General Discussion Forum.
My favorite thread(s) are those about the Sebenza and the Military, but my interests are now moving toward fixed blades so others may soon follow.

How about you....?

stjames said:
The good old "Sebenza Vs. the World" thread, just can't get enough.

Scarman -
Hello James, I figured you of all people would pitch in your vote for the "Mighty 'Benz". Good to see you.

ThomM -
Anything on Sebenzas or Umfaans. Those are the knives I've settled on, and like a lot of other people I think they are the best, especially for my uses.

It's great that my 200th post is about Sebenzas

David Williams -
Since VG became co-moderator of the community forum he toned down his posts somewhat. It is still a fun place to hang out though. I spend equal amounts of time in the Blade Discussion Forum, Community Forum and Political Arena.
When my BP gets too low I check out a B**** vs. M** D** thread. The Sebenza threads are fun too. I miss the "What is the best knife for (insert latest monster here)" threads. We need a "What is the best knife for the Battle in Seattle" thread

Kisu -
My fav is Shop Talk, sometimes I ignore all the rest and just read that. Actually not "read": I think "study" is a better one

Chiro75 -
My favorite Forum is probably the Shop Talk one, followed by the General Blade Forum in quick succession. The Shop Talk is so cool because you can get near instantaneous information! It's really a special resource. I like the main forum because of variety. Obviously, with my posting volume, I like to jump in on lots of subjects!
Ummm...what was I going to say...oh! Favorite thread would probably be the Kysa one for several reasons...first was the pure controversy of it and the heat of debate. I miss that from time to time! Also, when it finally came out that the whole thing was a hoax, most of the guys who were staunch defenders came forth with apologies and everyone was pretty gracious. A good situation that could've turned really bad.
I also like the Mad Dog threads, because of the entertainment value. The guy has more people trying to break him down, yet he remains fairly successful. Psychologically very interesting

...one of the best threads in a long time was Ken Onion's dealing with the question of custom makers using modern technology in making their knives.... great stuff!

#3 Blade Discussion Forum
I have no favorite thread, per se. The whole Kysa phenomena was impressive for it`s scope and impact on the forum. Maybe I`m just a jaded old SOB, but I don`t believe that the WWF, WCW or Kysa is real, but they sure are fun to watch sometimes.

I like the Custom forum a whole lot. But I like hanging out in the general and community forums too. I've really enjoyed some of the more humorous threads recently, like Uncle Bill's snipe hunt (hear it turned out well), and reading all those sad stories about knife and forum addictions. The occaisional theological debates that break out from time to time are really a lot of fun. I heard God was hanging out here. Anybody know which One of us is him (her)?

Ewok -
That final first anniversary trivia thread was fun! Eight questions, each one asked as soon as the previous was correctly answered.

Cougar Allen -
God used the forum name "God." He hasn't posted for quite a while ... some people believe God is dead.

Smoke -
My tastes have changed in the last year except for the Knife Exchange area, I always go there first. I've don't go much into the tactical area anymore but now the Spyderco, HI, and now GH forums.
Then the Gen area looking here first then Knife Reviews and the Custom Makers zone.
I basically like product reviews and bargains.

Steve6 -
I like the general forums as well as the reviews. I especially appreciate Cliff Stamps reviews as he is very thorough and does things to his knives that I would not and has taken several knives past their limits. After all, how can you know what the limits are if you don't exceed them.
BTW, who is Kysa?

Steve B. -
Questions best left unasked:
#1 Who is Kysa?

#2 Which is better, Mad Dag or Busse?

#3 So what`s so great about the Sebenza anyways?

ThomM -
Answer to Question #3
Ah Grasshopper,,,
After reading all posts concerning Sebenzas, if you find you must ask the question, you would not understand the answer.

Rommel -
I always check The Knife Exchange category. It's always good to know w/c dealers have the best prices on the net.
Knives For Sale and who's who to avoid in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly business.

Tactics & training if your into self defense and survival.

And of course, Blade Discussion forum. Lot's of info to read.

To be continued?

Thanks for the rewind. Lets try it again.

I like the Blade Discussion Forum of course: it gets so much traffic that communication is almost in real-time. I must admit though, I can frequently be found kickin' it in the Spyderco Forum. (Yes, I used to think Spydercos were ugly)

I can't really think of a "favorite" or "best" thread, but this recent one is very funny: it's "Dumbest thing you have done with a knife" at... http://www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/000620.html

The worst thread I have seen is definitely "Animal Rights". It actually started out well and was quite compelling for awhile, but it totally fell apart. Most of its six (!) pages are a mixture of incoherent philosophy and long-winded, off-topic politcal arguments. Unfortunately, this thread has recently been resurrected at http://www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum11/HTML/000163.html

The most interesting ongoing issue has certainly been the case of the infamous Kysa Braswell. And... Oh! How could I forget the good news? Kysa woke up last week! She's out of her coma (according to her web page)! This is fantastic, but she'll probably be mighty upset with us forumites. {snicker}

I hit the knives for sale forum first. Bargins show up every now and then and you've got to be there or they are gone in minutes.
The next stop is the blade discussion forum.
That's followed by th shop talk forum. There is so much info there that it's incredable. Ask a question and the amount of info you recieve can be a little overwhelming sometimes. A great place and much appreciated.
Finally I lurk in the Spyderco forum. I don't post much there because most of what I would post is " Yeah, What he said!"

My favorite thread is any thread that points me to a site where I can get a knife for virtually nothing!!

Spyderco Starmate winner! Thanks Sal Glesser!!!

Blade Discussion forum is the best. I've learned alot from alot of pros (and guys like me, as well).

The community forum is pretty cool, too.

I normally hit the general discussion and span out from there. There is so much information ranging in several subjects, it is hard to pick a favorite. For example, the new Wilderness and Survival Forum is really nice and informative. This forum has changed the knife industry.

I am curious, is anyone charting the daily membership increase?

Everyone, keep up the good work!

I usually check out the Buck, Spyderco and Rekat forumd first, then Camillus, General etc. I like the new Wilderness forum too.

James,

Thank you for reviving this thread. I only hope it stays on target this time.

Alcon,

I have moved into the realm of fixed blades and now find myself drawn to any and all info on different carbon steels such as 5160, A2, D2, O1 etc....

Happy posting....

For me it' s the Knife Exchange forum. They get my attention first when logging onto the site. I' ve missed some desireable pieces by literally minutes. Then it' s the General Discussion forum. Since it covers such a broad range one never knows what shows up there! Never a dull moment.

Any threads that spark "controversy" would get my attention. But that doesn' t neccessarily mean they are enjoyable.

I'd like to put in a plug for the Himalayan Imports forum -- even if you're not particularly interested in large chopping knives, it's worth hanging out there just for the company.

The Bladerigger forum has some very knowlegeable members and anybody who's interested in martial arts can learn a lot there even if the Bladerigger's weapons are out of your price range.
