What is your favorite hard use folder?

Well today I'm not gonna be able to see any sucker fish to spear today cause it's dark and cloudy and bored so decided to cut down an 8 inch thick tree with my Benchmade 275 ADAMAS. My favorite hard use folder. Took me 25-30 min. to get it down including time to take off branches so i could walk around it. Word to the wise "ALWAYS WEAR GLOVES WHEN CHOPPING DOWN A TREE ESPEICALLY WHEN USING A UNDER 4 IN. BLADE.:) Hence the blood on the stump. But the coating held up incredibly well and is still in the same condition was in when i left. When i got back did some test cuts for sharpness and edge was also still impressively good. I can't tell any differance in the edge sharpness than when i left either and their is still some sap residue on blade. Lock is also still perfect.I believe the tree is a type of pine or spruse. Anyone how to get tree sap completely off a blade? Anyways here's some pics and would also like to know what your favorite hard use folder is.

What a way to use a folder haha. I have been thinking about getting another Adamas, I miss mine. I always use Goo Be Gone to remove sap from a blade.

It may not be as hard use as an Adamas, but my Spyderco Vallotton is a very solid yet classy folder.

Wow, you must have been pretty bored.
I'm sure the Adamas can handle it, but I wouldn't waste the time and energy.
Get a big Busse fixed blade if you wanna have some fun chopping stuff up.
And my favorite hard-use folder...probably my Emerson CQC-15 because it's a brick of a knife and I hate the chisel grind, so it gets used for prying heavy duty staples and anything else that might damage an edge. I think I also used it as a hammer once.

Would like to try an Emerson someday but not super stoked on 154cm or S30V for that matter. Wish Emerson had different steel offerings. For some reason 154cm didn't take that great of an edge for me. S30V can get insanely sharp but loses it's edge faster than M4 or D2. I made little over 100 cuts through some cardboard with a Para 2 and it was completely dull and the edge rolled severely. Never had that problem with D2 or M4 their almost permanently sharp. I hacked and whacked on this tree and i can still shave off hairs with it. It drives me crazy when people say D2 is a steel that just doesn't compete with newer steels today. I have more D2 blades than any other cause like i say almost permanently sharp and are semi-stainless. Have big fixed blades RAT 7, Buck Punk,Scrapper 5,Cold Steel GI Tanto but the point of this is just wanted to see if ADAMAS could handle this and it absolutely did. I chopped through about half of the same size tree with DPX HEST (actually was about 5-6 inches)and sure i could i could have finished but gave up halfway through was on my way back from a walk. So DPX HEST would also recommend for hard use folder. LOVE D2. I'm gonna get a HEST with Sleipner steel someday too cause hear it's an improved version of it. Have a Lionsteel SR2a and the Sleipner does cut and feel great but only cut paper with it so couldn't say for sure what it's capable of and currently trying to sell it. If it had G10 would probably keep it. S30V i do like since it's stainless and does keep a descent edge and seems toothier than 154cm which i like. I would like to try a Spyderco Tuff sometime in the future too and many of their other products. But just wanted to prove to myself that Adamas is an undisputed king of hard use folders. Also DPX HEST.

I'm no tree hugging hippie or anything, but you should start chopping down trees that are already dead.

Yeah, I was gonna post something like this... Leave the good trees for lumbermen and beavers.

I have a couple of those 0275's and they are very nice. I prefer the Spydie TUFF with CPM-3V.

I walked descently far in the woods so it's a forgotten tree one nobody will miss much.:o Dead tree's are too soft so wouldn't be much of challenge. Lots of deer tracks, bear scat and wolf scat. Think I'm gonna hunt deer there this year. It's a hotspot for animals on this rock ridge. Tons of deer tracks. Might go up there later with chain saw and use for firewood. This is at a farm so there are plenty of tree's around. We need to cut them down anyways for firewood for firepits and hunting shack ya hippies.;)

I too love my Cold Steel Recon 1's and Holdouts. If I brought a sharpener with might have possiblely done the same task. Still overall awesome hard use folders. Really like Aus 8 but gets dull fairly fast. Great for food prep. Mmmmmm. Bacon.:)

For removing sap on a coated finish, I generally use Goof Off. For bare metal, I generally use a wading cloth. Ive used things like lighter fluid, gas, acetone, etc., but I find Goof Off is equally or more effective, and a lot safer on most surfaces.

I've got the same bacon in the fridge now :). To keep on track, ESEE 3, smith and wesson border guard (because its cheap), gerber basic(same reason), my opinel #8 has done alot one of my favoites expecially after modding it.

Out of my "hard use" folders, my favourites are without a doubt the old Spyderco Manix and Mini Manix. They are tough enough for anything I might need to do with a pocket knife, yet the blades are designed to cut well and aren't too thick.
