Hi everybody.
Being new to HI and its products I ask the forum members this question:
What is your favorite HI product and why?
The why part is important. I am looking for input so that I may use it in future purchases and to guide me in those choices.
You may only pick a maximum of two out of your collection.
Remember this is any HI product.
Pictures would also be useful to go along with your "why" description.
I thank all members for your input.

The one I like best is the Tamang. Over the years I have turned away from the heavier khukuries. In fact I won't buy anything over 600 grams these days, my old arm can't take it and I hate having my pants pulled down. The beauty of the Tamang is not only its light weight (mine is 14 ounces or 398 grams in weight) but it's versatility. It size, less curvaceous shape, and extreme sharpness allows it to work very well on kitchen duties. I have not used mine for woodworking but I do recall a comparison to a particular popular Swamp Rat model (somewhere in this forum) that it apparently outperformed in this area, so it's obviously no slouch. I would imagine that when it comes to most chopping duties it is probably more comparable to a machete than a axe or tomahawk. The only thing I don't like about it is the sheath with the pouch that some have used as a belt loop. I would have preferred no pouch on the sheath and a dedicated belt loop.

I have to wrestle amongst my special Gelbu and beloved ASTK for a 12+" Salyan model.

It's my 1st HI khukuri, done by Sher the Tiger at 0.5" thick and came with what Auntie called as "fiery" red scabbard.

Why? The thick spine managed to deceive doubters on the hill thinking such small blade couldn't handle thick vines and branches.

Easy to carry yet thick enough to get the job done.

For me it is my HI Bonecutter.

This kukri is a big 18 inch chopping machine but is made with traditional sizing and has a manageable weight and handle. And while it is big, it is also light nimble and very efficient. It out chops most blades I have and the thing I like most about it is that the combination of handle, weight and efficiency of the blade all combine so that even after a good deal of chopping, you don't feel like you just got run over by a train.

From an aesthetic point of view, I like a kukri with a rounded spine rather than the hard angle some have, and ones that have some character in the blade and shape. I don't have the weight and individual pic on this computer but you can see with the pic provided that the Bonecutter stands out in a crowd.

Oh that's like asking me to pick a favorite among my children:D

My favorite HI product until the Farm Knife came along was the AK bowie. I still would like to get one with a wooden grip. I loaned mine to my dad before a big trip as I wanted him to have the biggest, toughest knife in his RV. He latched on to it, and I never saw it again;)

I miss that knife, but it's in good hands.

Probably my favorite khuk style of knife is the Boomerang AK. It was a birthday gift a couple years ago, and it has limbed more trees and deadfall than pretty much any other khuk in my collection. It's sort of a stocky little mutant between an M-43 and a Chiruwa AK. You don't see them come down the line often. I'll try to take a pic of it. It's buried in my truck somewhere.

Mine would be my 20" M43 and my 18" Sgt. Khadka Bonecutter.

Of course I think a chiruwa tarwar would beat then both out.

Hmmm. I like full ("chiruwa") tangs & wooden grips :)
That's as narrow a choice as I'll go at the moment...

My favorite: the original Super CAK made by Sgt Kadka.

It's a big 20" khukri but at about 34oz it is remarkably agile and fast. It handles something like a cross between an M43 and a Sirupati, and with ferocious cleaving power.

I named it Cleaver thusly. That's what it does.

Hi Joe68, My favorite's are the GCB and 22" GRS. I seem to prefer blades with a mass of 56oz. and up.

It's a tie between the Panuti (if I spelled that right glory be!) and what I think is the Villager Khuk,it's the one with forge scale and a wooden sheath.

The Farmcata is....well I bloody well need one,it looks like it'd be a great all arounder, that the excuse I'll use anyway :p

While I only own one HI knife a 18 inch chitlange by santosh. I like it a lot however at 27 oz I find it slower than I would like in the hand. As far as looking on the web page and scrolling through the various models I would have to say my favorite is dui chirra. I am in the process o trying to decide if I want to special order one from auntie or am I just going to settle for a 15 inch sirupate. I am thinking that maybe a BAS would be a fairly good compromise between the two. What do you all think? Uses primary is backup home defense weapon with some light camping duties such as splitting kindling, cutting rope food prep and self defense from wild animals but this will primarily be a defensive weapon that I will pass down to my son when I am to old to wield it. Sort of my first family heirloom.

I use the Bahadur Knife the most(hiking blade) and I dearly love my M43 (moogoogaidan thanks for parting with it;) but I think my favorite is my 20" AK 38oz of guillotine and it will limb trees faster than a chainsaw:D

Hah!!! I actually just looked back at that thread this morning because i was thinking of buying it again and I saw it was traded!! I'm glad you snagged it, buddy!

For me it's a tie between the farm knife and my villager CAK, with the Tamang coming a very strong 2nd place.

That's a hard question for me as I'm still new to h.i. Khukuri although I ordered 3 in a month as well as a biltong i've been using frequently in the kitchen

My 18" Gelbu Special and 18" Ganga Ram Special for chopping (haven't had a chance to try out Sgt. Khadka's Bonecutter yet).
