The generic stack leather handle Jet pilot's survival knife
And if that wears out
I'll be looking for another, and another, and another ...

My favorite right now is the Ontario SP6 as it is my militia load out knife. It is a very sleek and sexy 8 inch blade that is sharpened on both sides of the blade. Way better than a KA-BAR USMC which is a pretty good knife in itself.

How do you like the grip compared to a KA-BAR? I find the guard (on the KA-BAR) to be a litte uncomfortable when stabbing. Is the guard on the SP6 a little softer? Thanks.

I rarely stab with my knife hard enough to bust the grip I have on the main handle. As for the Kraton handle material it is a good material but like all of the Kraton handles it will build up heat in your hands pretty fast but it is rare that I ever use a big chopper with out gloves (like the SP10) and this SP6 does not get used for long periods of time without some kind of break. About the longest I have used it without stopping was to make 8 tent stakes which I put gloves on and other than that just cleaning fish which has yet to produce hot spots or blisters.

It is as good as a KA-BAR leather handle and maybe better in some ways.

Some put too much on how Kraton produces heat. If your doing that much work you are going to use gloves on most any knife, at least I do.

Nice, sounds like a good knife. And it's cheaper than the FF6 which is the same blade with a KA-BAR handle.

This is the only one I own. The handles required a decent amount of material removal to get it comfy for extended chopping/brush clearing applications. (Medium to large hands) Bought this as a toe in the water big, choppy-oriented knife. It's light enough to comfortably belt carry, as opposed to the Siegle 1/4" thick 16" OAL that has replaced it, and thin enough to work fairly well for light machete type jobs. Definitely a good jumping off knife if you're on the fence about getting into large knives IMO.

I like the fact that it has *some* serration, but not enough to really get in the way when not needed.

Probably my SP10, but really, most of the SP lineup are great.

As for folders, I only have the Utilitac(in several variations), which is one of the best budget folders out there.
