I have been making a few more slip-joints and am looking for opinions on the most liked handle material. I see a lot of knives with stag and various jigged bone patterns.

What is your favorite handle material, and if it's jigged bone what color, brown, amber ect?

How about pearl or ivory?

Thanks,
Chuck

So far Ivory. I've made many with ivory, been wanting to do one in pearl or mammoth tooth but ain't had time:(

I agree with Jackknife. Stag is always good, but the scales should match. Gnarly, popcorny, plain white are all good as long as both sides look similar. I think that mismatched scales are incredibly ugly.

That's the prob. I found with buying stag, I had to buy three pair to get what I wanted for a match:rolleyes:

Stag or ivory micarta. As much as I love natural ivory there are too many pieces of illegal ivory floating around with bogus documentation

Ebony. I'm usually Jigged bone and stag, but there is something about ebony.Especially with a nice shield.

That's why you need to find a maker you trust , because they WILL know the difference:cool:

ivory micarta, cocobolo and green canvas micarta for pocket bound users.

Almost anything, especially natural materials. If I had to pick only one choice for today, jigged red bone.

I don't have one favorite but do own customs in Stag, Brown Jigged Bone and Green Canvas Micarta only. So I guess those are my three favorites. All of them are knives in my EDC rotation. Also have one in CF on the drawing board, so...

Someday i'll look into a nice gentleman's folder in some type of pearl but it'll probably just be for dress carry.

exterior mammoth ivory is my favorite-

always wanted a mammoth tooth knife-

and another maker here used some armadillo that looked awsome

I like them all, but my favorite is black lip. The knife pattern can also influence my favorite handle material also.
