What is your favorite splitting maul for big rounds like oak ?

Do have the Fiskars isocore splitting maul and quite a bit of vibration on the larger oak rounds.
Also have the Fiskars X27 and same in regard to vibration on large rounds.
Would like to try a wood handle splitting maul.

My personal fave is a Rinaldi 5.5lb splitting maul but they're a little hard to get right now. I also quite enjoy the vintage 6lb no-name standard American maul I refurbished recently. Ground it down nice and THIN and that puppy can buck if you have to.
 
I believe it was called a "wood grenade" .:p Had it forever and recently bought a similar design copy .

Works about as well as anything manual , on those stubborn oak rounds and similar .

Never found anything really easy . 🤷‍♂️

You might want several wedges for the kind with knots .

I use the heavy ( 12lb IIRC ? ) red all steel maul on the clear pieces . No idea what name or where I got it .

I can't really swing that thing . Just raise it high overhead and let her drop . ☺️ Magic when it works .
 
Fiskars makes excellent tools. The X27 is a great splitting axe. They also make the IsoCore 8lb splitting maul. I have 2 of each and I love them. I like the splitting maul the most because I can pound splitting wedges with it when I split something stubborn.
