What is your favorite style fixed blade knife?

My favorite fixed blade would have to be a sub-hilt Bowie. I have several that just feel fantastic in my hand. I like for the blade to have a gentle curve to it with a large clip point. I know some don't care for the sub-hilt, but I really like the looks and the feel of one. Nothing makes me drool like a great looking sub-hilt Bowie.
How about the rest of you, what is your favorite style of a fixed blade knife?

Well, it's hard to narrow it down. I have five, but I've only actually handled three of the five (the other two I can't post pictures of because they're not finished yet).

Still, three of my all-time favorites are this matched pair

11" blades, quick, light, and easy to carry concealed on my SB3 rig.

This little boot knife

It's got a 5.5 inch blade, easily carried in a belly sheath.

And, best for last, this bowie with a 12.5 inch blade. When I pick this one up I have a hard time letting it go.

See a trend? All made by my favorite maker at www.hossom.com

He's got other designs coming down the pike that I can't wait to see.

Small hunters. Three to five inch blades. Usually drop point. But straight and upswept tips are nice too. In carbon steels. Maybe damascus. Distal taper and Tapered tang. As balance requires. Balance point just behind the guard. Handforged. Differential temper. Flat grind. Ideally with little or no secondary bevel. Small to medium guard, but pukkos are great too. Natural handle materials like exotic woods, antler, bone, and tooth. Either slab or mortised tang construction.

Kelly,
Great design on your chute knife.

Matt,
My favorite of your favorites has to be the 12.5 Bowie. It's awesome.

Phil,
I can see why you still love her even if she does bite!

John - I only WISH that Johnson was mine! It's just my favorite fixed blaxde design, and that Johnson is one of the best interpretations of it I've seen. Maybe one day...

Allen Blade talonite Tadpole! I wish I knew how to post a pic...

Copfish,

Check your e-mail.

Paracelsus,

You must have been reading my mind on the hunter and the puukko. If you say you also collect old Winchester rifles I'll have to put another layer of aluminum foil inside my hat to keep your brain scanner waves out.

Favorite fixed blade ?

I'd have to say my present style of preference is a cord wrapped neck knife. My RJ Martin #5 Kozuka is due back from said maker from a facelift. A cord wrap over ti Neck Tanto is in the making from Neil Blackwood, as is (minus the wrap) a Marshall with white & red from Lynn Griffith. My 15 year old Kozuka delivered from Phill Hartsfield has been a long time favorite user....

Phil,

Your'e right, that one is right up my alley! Fortunaletly, I already have one, otherwise I'd be drooling all over myself right now. I'd also be trying to scrape up some money to place a bid. That particular knife is one of my favorites in my collection. Thanks for the link.

Big Bowies, something in the line of the Bagwell Hellsbelle or, for looks, the G.D. Searle Bowie such as Dixi Gun Works sell with its optional nickle silver sheath. I also love Highland Dirks as in the following URL http://www.tinkerblades.com/page10.html

For all my general purpose/ utility knives it would be any number of my Dozier small/ medium hunter styles with (modified) clip points: a custom made Personal Utility, General Utility, Agent, and Pro Guides Knife come to mind.

My Schott dagger is my favorite. I really dig daggers. My Schott is an absolute beauty and it possesses all kinds of extra attention to details which makes the knife an awesome, frightfully deadly fighting blade.

After that my second favorite are bowies, there are so many that make my heart go pitter patter that I can't name just one.

After bowies, short swords.
