I've had, and have purchased recently, a few leather working tools. I have my favorite wood working tools and I'm wondering what your favorite leather working tool is.
Right now my favorite leather tool is the cheap stitch groover that I got today. It cost a whopping $11 shipped straight from China and it's every bit as good as any Chinese Tandy tool I've ever owned.
You can't tell in the picture but the wood is actually kind of pretty (although the finish could be better and I'll most likely remedy that). I have no idea what indigenous wood they have there, but it's nice.
The action could have been better as it seems a little bit of the glue used to thread it into the wood got on the steel threads. It took a little strength, but once I broke the glue loose the action is good. Overall f&f is high and the blade is sharp. I would like to know if the blade is interchangeable with the Tandy or Springfield blades, but my gut tells me they'd work fine.
So that's my favorite tool for the time being. What is yours? Pics would be great. I'd love to try some Osborne tools, or the Springfield tools patterned off the Osborne tools. The high end Weaver tools look very very nice as well.
Finally, even if it's not your favorite tool, what do you use to cut your leather? I'm using either a Cold Steel mini tuff light or a snap off box cutter type razor. Both work well but I'll make my own.
