What is your favorite type of knife? And why is it your favorite type of knife?

My vote is for the balisong, I like to manipulate more than I like to do anything else with a knife.;)

Sorry guys I forgot to add fixed blade and I cannot go back and edit the pole.:(

Don't worry...they will all tell you of the many and varied things you have left off...happens to me ALL the time ;) HAH!

But I chose Butterfly, as I've mentioned before, anyone can
Use a nail nick,
Thumb open a thumbstud,
Push a button,
Sort of push a thumbstud..ala Ken Onion :)
Slide a dealybob,
Flick/gravity type open,
But it takes a bit of skill and daring do to work a butterfly knife! And I'll warn you all, it is very addicting once you've mastered a few openings, drives the wife and people at work crazy hearing that click clack song! But I do love it! AND they are without a doubt one of the strongest locking knives around, well made ones that is...

I understand your poll question.

Under "favorite type of knife" there are more categories than listed. I infer that your question is what type of opening technique do you prefer.

I generally prefer the Spyder-drop opening technique. I also like the cross-draw of a fixed blade.

BTW mnblade, OTF means "Out the Front", such as the Microtech Halo that projects the blade using a compression spring through the front of the handle instead of rotating around a pivot pin.

I have to vote for the auto as my favorite opening method. I think it is just really cool, easy to do, and very practical. Of course it is illegal almost everywhere.

My next vote would be for balisong, as it also has a high marks for cool opening/closing factor. Of course it requires considerable skill, and practice. I also feel it is not a very useful type of knife for daily carry.

My favorite type of knife or EDC is ofcourse just a thumstud/hole type one hand opener. It is very practical, and legal just about everywhere. In this catagory I must say the best method is assisted openening, some of the toy factor of a switchblade, and the legality of a one hand knife.

Fixed-blade, such as my Camillus Cuda CQB-2. Nothing to open, and carried in a "plastic" IWB sheath, it carries very well, and draws very quickly.:).

OTF means out the front. You can goto www.microtech.com to view several of these types.

And I did mean what type of knife you like best not which opening, but without the ability to edit the pole i can't fix anything.
