I would like to make a little survey of Chris Reeve owners on this forum.

What is your favourite handle inlay? If you own 1 or more knives with inlay what kind of inlays have you chosen for your own collection and why?

Indeed my first real knife was a large Sebenza with Micarta inlay and a partially serrated blade. I loved the look and feel of the Micarta as well as the durability of the inlay, which is why I chose it.

It seems many new Sebenza (and other Chris Reeve) photos posted recently have been featuring inlays. Some of these photos are of amazingly beautiful including mammoth ivory inlays that seem more work of art than knife.

I don't have a camera of my own, but photos of your inlay collections would certainly be a cool way to show-off all those dressed-up handles.

Mammoth Ivory, as well as jigged Madagascar Rosewood (a present for my father) here. I picked the jigged Rosewood because I thought it looks cool. I do have to admit though, that its hard to make out the actual woodgrain, due to the jigging. Which is a slight bummer......... .

I suppose my favorite inlay material is mammoth ivory bark -- not only is it beautiful with unique colors/patterns, there's just something about carrying around a material that used to be alive 10,000 years ago that is way cool. DaveH started a thread of ivory inlay images as follows:

I'll second the mammoth ivory. Though I'd also be interested in elephant ivory. I'm not aware of them making inlays in elephant ivory - but I can wish!

I'll second this one! it's beyond unique!!

Third vote in that beauty contest. A stunner.

How about anyone with those beautiful LE wood inlays? Or even Micarta with different color spacers and lugs?

Keep these votes and pics coming!

I'm a Micarta advocate.

BUt for the woods my favourite by far is maple burl.

I've got the following;

Large bocote with raindrop damascus
Large Micarta
Small buckeye burl
Small mammoth Ivory

Favorite for carry =Micarta
Favorite for looks =Ivory

I'll get some pics up when it stops snowing:grumpy:

I have to admit that I really like the bark ivory inlays depending on the color sceam. But the burl woods really do a number on me too. The burls really come to mind. I've tried to gather a couple here and there.

Another vote for Mammoth bark. A close second is Buckeye Burl. I have a Bark River Northstar in Buckeye burl and it's just plain stunning.

My one and only Sebenza, a Large Micarta.

I think the Micarta matches the other modern materials best.

I like it so much that I have ordered the Small Micarta to keep it company :)
