I'm looking to buy a karambit knife, and don't know what brand or it it should be folding or fixed.
It would be mainly for EDC.

I've never carried a hawkbill but know that you brought it up it may try it.
Karambits lean more towards self defense, they can be useful for EDC but depending where you live they can also get you in trouble. A hawkbill folder serves the same purpose without the self defense connotations. The grip is also more comfortable for work tasks.

If you can get over the hideous KARAMBIT!!! writing on the blade, check out the Fox Knives Karambits (FX-479 Pictured, the 599 is a tad smaller and had so so fit and finish from what I read).

Bastinelli makes the Blackbird folding karambit that seems fairly compact and a bit more unobstrusive than some other.

Another option that I think would add utility would be to get a Spyderco Delica Wharncliffe and add a Wisemen Signet Ring. If you wanted wave opening you could get a Wisemen Fang as well. That also gives you the option of removing the hardware and rolling with a more conventional pocket knife if the karambit thing gets old.

Been cutting meat professionally over 30 years..own the 479 karambit..love it...solid construction..very sharp out of box..will stand toe to toe with knives twice the price..looked on ebay and scored one for 99.00 new in box. Never regretted it.

If you can wait, Joe Caswell should be coming out with his morphing karambit this year. I think he might be doing a Kickstarter campaign.

Check out the Spyderco Karahawk. It is a great Karambit for EDC because it is a very strong design, but at the same time is super thin and comfortable to carry around everywhere. To me a folding karambit needs a wave feature, and both the Fox posted above and the Spyderco Karahawk have them. This is because we carry folding karambits “upside down” with the rinf sticking out of the pocket.

Look at how thin it is.
