As most of you know I got a Henry Leveraction Rifle for my birthday which matches my Ruger Single Six quite nicely. Well yesterday I snagged a Marlin 1894c .357 Magnum from the same dealer at a nice price. Also snagged a .38 cartrage belt, which I've hung my blackhawk's holster on. Having it on that belt is really comfortable.

So this got me thinking; Which HI Khukuri should I pair with the Marlin? I'll be camping and shooting up in the canyons a bit this summer and there is always the chance that a trail or firing line will need to be cleared a bit. So which should I add to my setup?

I have the following:
12" AK
15" Sirupati
15" AK - Overly huge
16.5" WWII
20" Sirupati

I'm thinking the 15" Sirupati or 16.5" WWII would be the way to go. What would you guys pick? I could talk about other knives and hawks but wanted to keep this to HI Khukuris for now.

Pics of my new combo are here: Pics of my new .357 Mag combo

Thanks,

Heber

hard to go wrong with a WWII

How'd I know you were going to say the WWII? ;)

Thanks Andy! I was part of the origanel Pen Knife pass around. It's a sweet knife.

So far we have two votes for the WWII and one for the large pen or BAS. Anyone else?

Heber,
WW II.
I like to chop with my 18" CAK, in the yard. Don't want anything too thin like my Kobra or Siru when I'm far into the wildy.
My favorite has always been my Bura 17 and 1/4" WW II for very long treks, now that I am lucky to have been gifted with an 18" WW II project Khuk, I have been beating the living bejeezus out of it. For the last month it's been chopping frozen trail timber, vines, barbed wire, old tires, ice holes for ice fishin',( it has a lanyard now, didn't want to be chopping a man size hole and wearing the old 6 mil suit looking for a khuk I dropped in the lake ). I blued it for fun.

That blade, well, she just has a flowing way about her...: )

I'll echo Mr. Colglazier. 18" WW2 or 18" Pen.

He hates ut when I call him Mr. Colglazier.

Nice Marlin rifle!! I just picked up a Henry model H001 in .22 .
Great little rifle for the money. I was looking for a vintage Marlin
model 39, but prices were a little high. Then I came across the
Henry. Attractive price and made right here in Brooklyn USA.
What model Henry do you own?

Big W, I have the H001T. It's the 20" Octagon Barrel with beaded front sight.

Thanks for the replies guy! :) I'll probably end up using the WWII or 20" Sirupati. Those have been my go to blades for many a year.

Depends on what you're cutting. If it's more than 2" thick or seasoned, go for WWII. If you're more likely to cut new growth, bushes, vines, etc. go with the 20" siru. Whichever you choose, make sure it pairs comfortably with the rifle - short of using a baldric it would be a pain to take the blade off every time you need to shoot kneeling or prone.
