Just got interested in a ax. I have this one. Am curious as to maker. It looks like at the top __18__MXFORD,down in the middle of blade___3

Yes. Thanks for the pic. I'd call that a Maine pattern which supports it's NE origins.

Rixford started off in New Hampshire and relocated to Vermont, if I remember correctly. I have a grass blade for my scythe by them and it's superb.
