Which do you all prefer on your 110? 420HC or S30V?
I guess if I don't get the custom, it makes it an easy decision. :D

Mine, is the Bass Pro Shops version, with CPM 154 blade. I love it.

As Danbo pointed out. There are other options to be found; though they may not be current production.
Of 420HC and S30V, I prefer S30V. But...420HC is easy to sharpen that I like it too!
The BPS with CPM 154 is the best to me. But...I really like the BG42 that used to be offered from the custom shop.

I'm in Atlantic canada,so that means salty air and rust,I like the dlc cabelas coated s30v on my 110 for corrosion resistance.its no gimmick, the dlc coating protects the steel extremely well from rust and stains.

Must be a special coating cabelas gives the blade?

I went from having two choices to too many choices. I might just stay with the Buck Custom website and make a choice between the two that are on there.

This is my personal preference for what I would use in certain situations. I am not an expert on blade steel.
S30V is stronger
420HC is easier to sharpen
S30V holds an edge for longer
420HC is cheaper ($5.50)
S30V is more expensive ($18.50)
420HC is more corrosion resistant

IMO, if you are going to abuse your 110, get the cheaper 420HC. If you are really going to abuse it, think about getting a bucklite or a selector. But I find the S30V to be great for EDC, as long as you use it to cut stuff and not use it as a pry bar or a screwdriver or an ax (which I have heard stories of people doing all three). If it is a hunting knife, I would get the S30V. Maybe not for fishing in salt water as it could rust the blade. But if you take good care of it and oil the blade now and then, you shouldn't have to worry at all.

In case you haven't already seen this, this is a snapshot taken from the buck website on the different types of blade steels:

Bottom line:Overall, for what I use it for (EDC/Hunting/Use in the woods), I would get the S30V. If you take care of it, it is well worth the investment.
