What kind of epoxy/CA for soaking cord wraps?

I'm experimenting (again) with tactical "Japanese" style knives with cord wrapped handles. I have a few years experience with this kind of thing and have tried a few different things in the past from ZAP CA super glue to epoxies and have had some so-so results. But I'm looking for the king of epoxies for soaking/weather proofing cord wrapped handles.

I really would like to keep the wrapping looking matte finished and not glossy or plastic looking. I really like the look like Wayne Watanabe gets with his tactical style knives.

So what do you guys use?

Galloglas,

I've had good luck with Polyurethane Casting Resin. Get it at a place that sells boat resin. I get it at TAP Plastics in Calif. It's nice and thin and penatrates well. Just use it sparingly or it will look glossy. Keep turning the handle as it cures and blot where it gets too thick. I just use a dry rag. Super glue works good to hold what you've wraped. I just super glue every couple turns to keep everything tight.
