What kind of flint should I buy?

Hello
I want to purchase a flint for fire making. I am a bit overwhelmed by the different kinds of flint available. I am not looking for a whole kit, just the piece of flint. I am a beginner. Can someone provide me with some guidance on what I should get? (size, shape, etc)

Are you talking about Flint & Steel method or A Ferro Rod? If a Ferro Rod I perfer the Light-My-Fire Army Model FireSteel.
