What kind of jigging is this?

I just found this Queen muskrat and am really impressed with the jigging on the covers. It's not like the jigging I'm used to seeing, is there a particular name for it? It looks really great, I think I'm going to have to pick one up and see how it feels in hand.

I have been looking at this exact same knife on KSF. I will be following answers to learn, myself.

I picked up this knife in large part because I liked the look of the jigging. I have no idea if Queen has a special name for it, but it would probably be worth a call to the factory to see what they might tell us. I am very happy with the overall quality of my Yankee Muskrat, and can certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a good pocketknife.

Is the shield set as low as the one in the picture I posted? Below the surface of the bone instead of flush? I've never really considered buying a muskrat before but like you the jigging is really making me lean towards a purchase.

That's beautiful, but I'd be afraid some of ridges might be prone to splintering because they're so thin. I've had a couple GEC's where the jigged bone splintered a little in one spot (usually find out when I'm wiping the knives down, the splintered spot will snag a small fiber from the cloth). Not a huge deal, I've just taken another knife blade and sort of carefully whittled the spot down smooth, but that's the only concern I might have with the jigging on that Queen. It does look great, though.

Carb, I just checked my knife, and the shield on mine is perfectly flush. If you do get one, when you order ask in the notes to have them check to make sure the shield is flush. I know KSF will do that, and I'm sure other retailers will as well. Again, I think the knife is well worth the money, and in fact, I'm carrying mine today.

I see, thanks for the correction Robin:thumbup:

That top one looks good enough to eat!:D:eek:

Regards, Will

From another thread on this forum... Jkulysses posted a picture of this and called it "Reptile" or " Alligator".
