I was looking in my attic today and I came upon a knife I have never seen before. It is all dusty and it is a little bit rusty too. I really have no idea what kind of knife it is. I have looked around on the internet and this is the closest result I could find: http://www.sportslinkup.com/shop/0-Camillus-pilot-1-HIGHEST.html
The Camillius Vietnam Pilot Survival Knife from around 1965-1969.
But it's not the same as the one I found, because on this one it should say something like 'Camillius, New York' but on my knife only the text 'Japan' is engraved. It's also a bit taller. The knife itself without the handle is about 5,1 inches tall (13 centimeters). The whole knife itself is about 9.5 inches (24,5 centimeters).
The knife has a not all too sharp point and a few small 'knives' on the side of it. It also has two small pinpoints which I guess are used to put onto a rifle as a bayonet too? There was also a kind of leather 'holster' with this, and there are laces on it to put it around your waist. The leather holster also has a small opening, does anyone also know what that was used for? What to put in it?
Could anyone please tell me what kind of knife this is exactly (I think a Combat knife?), what model it is, from what country, what production year, what it was used for and what it is worth nowadays? And finally the bottom can also be unscrewed from the handle or something like that? What is the purpose of that?
I would really appreciate your comment(s)! I hope this mystery can be resolved, haha.
Here are the pictures I made of the knife and 'holster' (16 in total), hopefully anyone will recognize it:
I don't think you can see the Japan engraving in the picture, but yea.. Thanks in advance guys!!
