What kind of knife

I was at the hardware store today and they were having a truck load sale. They had a big box of power hack saw blades that are marked high speed, shatter proof bi-metal and are 16-20 inches long. They are a bit over 1/8 inch thick and 1 1/2 inches wide. For those who know, would these make a decent knife and what kind of heat treating might work. This is new ground for me. They were selling them for 2.00 each so I bought hal a dozen. Thanks.:)

since they are bi-metal, only the strip of steel that makes up the teeth is hardened hss. when you remove the coating, you'll see the transition. With that in mind, I guess you could only keep a good point on a wharncliffe/sheepsfoot.

There are full hss saw blades for power hacksaws, I got a couple off ebay a while back. Several people have used them to make knives, but I find the hardened M2 to be a bear to grind and eats up belts quick for hobby making. You don't have to worry too much about heat treat, you'd have to get around a thousand degrees Fahrenheit to affect the temper.
