...when others see or handle your Busse(s) for the first time?

I've had a couple like "WHOA!!!! That thing is BIG! Why would you need something that HUUUGE on the trail" while carrying a BM on hiking/camping trips, and I have also had my girlfriend's mother confscate my MS for the afternoon to use in the kitchen because it's "sharper and feels nice"...:)

What other kinds of impressions have your Busses left?

The week after christmas my SH arrived at my place. The following week I hiked up a hill for some hard fun. There I used my SH for the first time. When I was standing in the snow up to my hips hacking away on a tree for some firewood some tourists came by skiing. They looked at me like I was an alien. But after one moment of considering if this maniac with this huge meanlooking knive is dangerous, they asked me for the way to the next cabin.
By the way, the SH worked perfect.

First, lest you think I over do it with the EDC, let me say that I own a small vending business that takes me all over a 2 county area including inner city (somebody's got to collect the money and there's no one to trust like yourself). I've been VERY lucky so far(last Dec I showed up to service a convenience store toward the end of a long day 15min or so after they had been robbed at gun point of $800 cash, they probably should have been following their own policies and dropped that $ huh?)But what I worry most about isn't being in one of my accounts when they are robbed but someone putting 2+2 together and setting an ambush for me. Now I deposit money in the bank frequently throughout the day, but they don't know that and when I see some of my 7-11s get robbed at gun point for $30-50 bucks, hey people who are willing to do time for armed robbery for that little amount of money are A)not rational B) not very smart(is that PC enough for everyone?) C) scary/dangerous D) ALL OF THE ABOVE So I've got a CCW and I shoot IDPA and IPSIC and go to training seminars etc. But we have long winters here and that clothing makes a quick draw nat all that quick but even in winter a knife from the front pocket is accessible and VERY fast. I've settled on using a fixed blade in the RF pocket of my dockers with the sheath on a static paracord line looped thru my belt. 8 1/2 to 9" blades are a snap, but I recently got a BA-E and have been working on make that work in that set-up. I've had to sew in velcro strips to the bottom half of my RF pocket to make the BA discreet enough to work. But last week before I did that, I guy behind me at a convenience store I was serviceing noticed the handle of the BA-E sticking out of my pocket (maybe there was 1 1/2" exposed and asked me if that was a hand gun in my pocket! I told him that no it was a utility knife. (I was thinking, no the Glock's in the holster were it belongs). I should add that my BA-E is one that has the polished spine all the way around so the butt is more noticeable when it reflects light of that sweet shiny INFI than if it were black coated. When I got home I looked at the butt of the BA-E from the angle that guy had and ya know what, if all you can see is the rear profile so all you see is the metal of the tang and the micarta scales, it does kinda look like the butt of a single stack 1911 from the same angle

As far as showing my knives or even using my serious knives publicly, I don't do that. I carry a nice little Camillus CUDA edc in my back pocket for light cutting duties and this is all I intentionally let people see, handle, use. My best friend also owns a vending business in this area carrying a different product and we train, strategize, budget and show off to each other or tactical toys(both sharp/pointy and those that make loud noises :)

Invariably, they reply, in their best Croc~ voice from down unda':
"Now THAT'S a knoif !!!"
Busse ALWAYS impresses...
What else CAN it do....?

The first thing people usually say when they see my BM-E is "What the H*LL do you need that for?". After they see it in action they say "Let me try that!".

It's like shooting in a way. Take someone out who has never shot a gun before and within the first few shots they're usually hooked. (Then they proceed to burn through $50 worth of ammo!;) )

When I showed my Brother-in-law my straight handled BM he stepped back and said " Yeah, thats a big knife" Then he tried to change the subject fast. I don't think he knew what to say or do while I was holding it. ;):D:D

Everytime someone has held one of my Busses they are usually quite amazed by the feel of the knife. No matter what model, they always want to check it out again. :D:D

My coworkers were all used to seeing my Basic 5, but every time someone checked it out for the first time, it was "man, that's stout" or something like that.
When I first got a NO, and showed it around, it got a lot bigger reaction from them. "Holy ####" was pretty typical, along with "What the #### are you going to do with this thing?". And these are not sheeple. They're mostly rough guys with rough jobs, who use knives everyday, most of whom are hunters, too....and they were in awe of it.

Even people who don't know much about knives seem to know there's something different about Busses.

So far I've only shown my Basic 9 to a few friends, but the consensus so far is....."Good Lord!".
