Hey all, I just had a quick question about what type of shackle, or clip, or hardware this is?

As in, what's the name of this type of clip? In addition, where might I be able to order online hardware like this?

PS the shackle in the photo is a maxpedition "keyper." I actually have one, it works nicely, but I'm looking to just get my hands on the shackle itself because I'd like to sew my own devices using leather (instead of the ballistic nylon).

It's called an HK clip, and you might be able to order one from HK, or you could get some Condor keyper ripoffs and remove the nylon.

Correct. It's actually called a Heckler & Koch Rifle Claw Latch.

Search with Google and you will find them. They cost about $3.75

There are some listed on eBay. Search for HK sling.

As is proven here, Google is your friend, and I apparently don't realize I have that friend until too late.
:D

I like these stainless steel gate clips. They are a bit heavier. The beauty of this design is the gate, which is also the spring. It is a great application of a torsion bar, which eliminates the need for a traditional compression spring and pivot. Not much to wear out. I've been using the same one on my key ring for over 30 years.

Lighthound and TadGear have similar clips in smaller sizes.

Edit: I was looking on the lighthound site and found the clips you were looking for. Clips

Midget,

I think lighthound has small ss clips that they call McGizmo. They may also have them in titanium.

I have seen those over on hardwareelf.com. seems to me they have them right about 2 bucks IIRC.
