What kind of Spyderco knife is this?

I ran across this knife today on Craigslist. I've tried asking the seller for the model number and pictures of the box. So far I have not gotten a clear answer other than it is a CPM S30V which I know is not the model number. It looks similar to a paramilitary 2, but I am not sure. I would appreciate any input on what kind of knife it is. I apologize if this is posted in the wrong spot.

Be aware of fakes. Google YouTube for videos.

The easiest thing to start of with is by asking for a close up shot of the non lock liner inside. There should be two holes as spyderco skeletonises the liners. If you see only one hole, you know this is at least wholly, or partly, a fake. YouTube videos discuss this in detail. If you see two holes, however, you still need to consider the other pointers, but this is the easiest one to check, and you'll know immediatelly if you just see the one that you need to back away.

Also, AFAIK, the PM2 comes out of the box tip down carry. Did the seller move the clip?

Thanks for the help guys. The guy hasn't responded to my emails since this afternoon. So, as of right now I will stay away from this knife. I don't know if he moved the clip, but I have looked at real pm2s and this one does look off to me.

I can tell by the texture of the G10 as it looks much smoother than it should be, and uneven to boot. Also note that packaging. Spyderco does not use such a porous black padding. You can see through that. It screams fake. The real problem is he is playing dumb. He knows darn well it's a fake but he's hoping somebody will fall for it.

fake paramilitary 2 and yes he did move the clip b/c genuine paramilitary 2's come with the clip in the right hand tip-down position

Definitely a fake PM2, first dead give away was the font type and size is completely wrong, on top of many other things like a fake looking box. Report them.

Yep, another fake PM2. And not even a good one!

Instantly noted that the symbols on the blade are wrong, the jimping is wrong, and the font is wrong.

Nearly perfect fakes are so common now that I avoid the secondary market and Amazon completely for Spyderco. Even here on the Exchange, I'm overly cautious.

Thanks guys I appreciate everything. I kind of figured he didn't want to tell me it was a fake by the lack of response I got back from him. Looks like I'm still in the market for a spyderco for now.

friends dont let friends by knafs on ebay or craigslist. buy them from the exchange on this forum or from an authorized dealer.

what cost was he asking? these fakes are like $12 Max. any more than that and its a rip off.

please report it if he's saying its genuine or selling for more than $12

As Mo2 recommended above, check out the Exchange right here on Bladeforums. There are a few different Spydercos up of the first few pages, and there are bound to be more further back.

I'd like to apologize. In your post you were asking what type of knife it was and I answered PM2 because that's what it looked like. I didn't even think to look for authenticity, just to identify it. So I'm glad you didn't buy, and with my future replies I'll be more careful!

There's absolutely no way that blade is DLC coated, therefore severely fake.

As mentioned above, you can get a second hand Spyderco (and many other knives) via the exchange from other enthusiasts that range from like new to well used and everywhere in between for very fair prices.

A lot of us buy knives to see if we like them and then decide not to keep them and sell at a reduced price to other members and so on down the line. As always, if it sounds too good to be true applies and consider who is selling but I feel like the exchange "self polices" very well and is worlds beyond what you will find dealing on a place like CL. Realistically, your biggest risk on the exchange is paying more $$ than something is really worth.
