What kind of steel in the blade

14c28n

Those letters are supposed to be capital, but something is messed up with my computer right now.

Knotty is right. The steel was changed from 13c26n and before that 440c I believe. But I can't recall exactley at the moment on the later.

I think you're right with the 440C. I remember reading something about it in one of the big Blur threads.

Thanks for the help, I guessing that's very good steel. The Blur is one sweetheart of a knife.

The standard Blur steel switched from 440A to Sandvik 13C26 in July 2007. It was then changed 13C26 to 14C28N in January 2009 (link). It has, of course, been offered in several other blade steel variations.

440A- 440C is like Iran to Iraq, whats the difference? ;)

I knew I would get them mixed up! (Yes I know theres a difference)
