What kind of tool is this?

New member here,
Does any one know what tool this is? I know this isn’t an axe but idk what category to put this under. The closest I can figure is maybe some sort of railroad spike maul?

Looks like a blacksmith hot cut chisel, or a splitting maul for wood. Size, weight and any markings would help.

It’s 5lbs, about 8” long, no other markings. Originally covered in blue paint I think. There was some remaining when I cleaned it up. The eye hole was about the same size as a sledgehammers.

I have no experience with track chisels, but it doesn't look like any wood splitting maul that i've ever seen.

Yeah I would definitely say track chisel, I have one very similar. A maul would have a wider but than that, that's too small for wood in that configuration

Yup. Track chisel or cold cut chisel. Hot cut chisels aren't so thick in the bit.
