What kind of wax do you use?

I'm looking for a recommendation for a wax that I can use to coat high carbon blades to prevent rust in the field. Also, how hard is it to remove and reapply whatever you suggest?

Ive seen people use renaissance wax for swords, but for knives i think your better off with tuf-cloth from sentry soultions.

I use Ren Wax on everything.

Okay, while we're on this one, I gotta ask:

I have a friend in Austin who coats his blades (all four or five in his collection, mind you--he's not doing this to a 14th Century Tachi or anything (thank the Gods)) with...

wait for it...

get this...

Dr. Zoog's Sex Wax!

If I'm not mistaken, this is surf wax, used to make your 'board ride smoother, right? I've argued with him about it from time to time, but I just have to know (and I don't want to experiment on any of MY stuff)--will Doc Zoog's Love Goo ruin a blade, or is it just another covering?

Thoughts?

If I remember correctly, sex wax is mostly carnuba wax forumulated to provide a tacky grip to the Top of the board. It has added ingredients to make it smell nice.

RenWax is a highly purified petroleum by-product. The wax is inert. It will not oxidize or yellow like most common household waxes (e.g. Johnson's). If the wax oxidizes, it might also allow the blade to oxidize (RUST). RenWax is used in very sparing amounts. One twenty dollar tin will last for years.

Sex Wax is probably better than nothing. But I prefer the Real Thing. I wouldn't want to stick my blades in that stuff.

For field use I think Tuff cloth is the way to go. At home I use Ren Wax. It's been a long time since I had any reason to apply any Sex Wax to anything, or anyone.
