What kind of wood scales are these?

So, probably pine? Pretty cheap?
Some kind of composite, it could even be a G10. Like most things bound together with resin, there are different grades. Dymondwood is a pretty high quality composite wood material. That one there, if there’s wood in it, looks cheap-ish to my eyes given the thickness of the layers.
 
The layers are like a topographical map. Alot of birch is used in diamondwood too.
